Has anyone gotten Rx's filled through a Canadian pharmacy?

For clarification up front: I am NOT looking for a means of getting prescription drugs *without* a doctor's RX... rather, a more cost-friendly way to fill current prescriptions for medications I take regularly.

Someone was talking about this at work the other day, sort of a "friend of a friend does this" conversation, talking about how her friend orders all his medicine from a Canadian pharmacy online and pays basically 1/3 the price, for the same brand (not generic) medicine, as he would with his insurance copay at a pharmacy here in the states.  He just has to send them (mail? fax?) a copy of his prescription, just like you'd need to provide if you were getting a refill at a Walgreen's.  She didn't know the name of the website though, so dead-end there.

Has anyone ever done this?  I googled "Canadian pharmacies," and a bunch of results came up, some definitely on the sketchy side.

    Yikes.  I don't know anything about this (and I don't want to be controversial), but I sure hope my taxes aren't going towards subsidizing non-resident's prescription medicine. 

    If I'm wrong in my assumption, I'm sorry.

    TTC since August 2009
    June/July 2011 - IVF #1 - Transfer cancelled due to OHSS
    23 perfect embryos. All 23 made it to freezing!
    September/October - FET #1 - October 12th - 2 Grade A embies
    October 20th - BFP??! EDD - July 1, 2012

    U/S #2 - November 14th = 133 bpm! U/S #3 & 4 - November 30th and December 7th = 163 bpm! U/S#5 - January 30th - TEAM PINK!!!

    Unless you can be sure they have an actual license I would not do it. A friend of mine got very sick from buying discount drugs on the internet that were not at the dosage they were suppose to be at.
