If you breastfeed in public, do you use a nursing cover?

Just curious how many of you use a nursing cover if/when you breastfeed in public.  My son doesn't like the cover that much, he's always reaching his hand out the top and tries to kick the cover off.  I wish more public places had nursing rooms!

  • i cover up with a blanket until she latches and then don't care too much what people see. LO doesn't like the blanket on her face, but we manage.

  • Yup - I have a hooter hider or I use a blanket. The Aiden & Anais ones work really well for nursing in public, as they are really big.
  • Nope; DS hates the cover.  If someone else is with me I have them sort of shield me if necessary until he latches and then that's it.
  • No, sometimes a blanket.

  • I use my bebe au lait cover.  Works pretty well.

  • I NIP often and I never use a cover. I'm usually wearing a nursing tank.

  • I use a cover because DS tends to pull off and look around and I don't really want it all hanging out there. Stick out tongue  Plus with the cover on he's less likely to be distracted by everything that's going on around him.  He does play with the cover/try to pull it off but it's still better than not having a cover (for us).
  • I just use a blanket. ETA: I leave his head uncovered but have the blanket there in case I feel the need to cover up real quick.

same here, and p.s.  I LOVE your siggy..too cute, and giraffes are my fave :)

  • I use an A+A blanket sort of like a wall but she is getting to the point that she doesn't want anything covering her head.  I don't blame her.  I don't like eating with my head covered either..lol

  • We use a cover by the first years.  When we are out it helps to minimize distractions, and on the plane.
  • Yes. I am a very modest person, I don't care so much about 'offending' people with my boobs, but I'm just very private about my body.

Liam doesn't like to be covered too much either, I'm getting a mommy necklace this week in hopes that it will distract him a bit from pulling at the cover. I know he will only get to be a more aggressive nurser as he gets older, so I'll just try to roll with it.

  • No.  I've gotten fairly good at keeping myself covered almost the whole time.  This last weekend my SIL was asking if DD was sleeping in my arms or just hanging out.  I told her I was nursing and she was really surprised and had no idea.
  • Nope, she hates it and what could take 10 mins takes 20 while I fight with her to stop unlatching and trying to rip the cover off.

  • I nurse in public a lot and most of the time I use a cover. He is starting to get annoyed by it though so I will probably use it less, I am fairly good at nursing descreetly without it, depending on what I am wearing.

  • Nursing in public stresses me out--- I've been pumping bottles lately if I'll be out for a while. Yes, it's more of a hassle, but I can tell when he's getting hungry and warm the bottle up and have it in his mouth smoothly, where sticking him under the cover usually makes him scream and squirm a lot and sometimes he gets so upset he won't even eat so I don't generally NIP unless he's in a super good mood.
