CD question: fitteds or AIO

Why do people buy fitteds and covers when they could just buy AIO's?? I'm confuzzled. Again.

AIO are very limited on their absorbency (unless they are stuffable AIO's). Also, fitteds with wool or fleece allow dc's bum to "breathe".

I didn't realize that some AIO's were not stuffable. I just bought 3 BG 3.0's to try out and I believe they are stuffable... Rigght?

Its the breathability of fitteds for us, plus a slight allergy to fleece. AND I like having all natural fabrics next to DD the entire day

Fitteds make a FAR superior nighttime diaper for us.

There's new AIOs that are - the BG 3.0 AIO ... then there's the BG 3.0 pockets .... and the BG AIO Organics (which I LOVE).

It's usually (not always) cheaper to buy, say, 12 fitteds and 3 covers than 12 AIO's.

And fitteds tend to dry faster and be better for line drying than AIO's.

What you're talking about is a pocket diaper, not an AIO. Pocket diapers are stuffable, most AIOs are not (an exception being Thirsties AIOs which also have a pocket.

I believe the new version of the BG AIO is supposed to have a pocket for an optional insert.

I don't have any AIO on my list to try, but I may get one or two. The reason I had put them aside rather than considering them more fully was because I had read a lot about them taking longer to dry and also wearing out sooner because of needing to stay in the dryer longer (if you don't line dry). So that could be part of it.
