New to The Bump

late but negative test???

Hello,

My name is Sarah. I am new to the bump. I am 23. I am engaged to a wonderful guy named Timothy. Both of us have never had kids before...................

I am now 6 days late.....and have taken SEVERAL home pregnancy tests and they all say negative..........I'm not understanding why I'm late.....and negative preg. test. It's very frustrating.

I do have signs of early pregnancy....nausea sensations, sleeping all the time, headaches....etc.......

anyone been in this situation before????

Re: late but negative test???

  • It's possible that you had a random anovulatory cycle, or one where you ovulated later than usual. So your period, while technically late, isn't really.

Keep testing about once a week. If you go 60 days without a period, call your dr.

  • I had a friend with the same issue and ended up she was having thyroid issues-which is why she was tired, had headaches, etc.  It is totally possible to have negative tests though, too.  So act as though you are pregnant (no smoking, drinking, and so on), and as PP said, if you go 2 months, call the doc.

  • I'm not new to the bump, but I'll answer your question.  Yes, that happened to me.  I was supposed to get my period on a Sunday and didn't so I tested.  It was negative.  I waited until Wednesday and tested again, came up negative again.  I waited until Friday and then tested with first morning urine and I saw a very, very, very faint line.  I bought a digital test that afternoon and tested when I got home from work and it read pregnant.  I must have ovulated much later than I had thought.

Oh, and I had friend who never got a positive pregnancy test reading yet she was pregnant.  Her OB confirmed it.
