People care because there is something magical about royal weddings. They love the elaborate designs and the processions. It's the same reason people love platinum weddings.

Personally, I care a little but not enough to record, view, rewind and view again.

I love reading about all that crap in tabloid mags, but I don't care to rehash the details on FB or message boards. Its interesting, but not captivating.

And the history of royal weddings in my lifetime has not been all that solid. It's scary that so much detail and money is spent on the show...hopefully they put that much effort into their marriage.
