For some reason, I hesitate to cut Jackson hair, but he's starting to really need it. It curls up in the back, looking pretty wild and I'm constantly brushing hair out of his face. It seems like such a big kid thing to do, though. ![]()
When did you cut LO's hair for the first time? How often do you do it after?
Re: When Did LO Get their First Haircut?
To be truthfully honest, when DS#1 as born - he needed a hair cut! lol
We waited until he was one year old. It was very long, bushy, and curly. Beautiful. We cut off all those curls and I thought, "oh, no problem - they will grow back."
Wrong. Oh so wrong. His hair is as straight as a board, just like mine.

We waited until DS turned 1, but he most definitely needed it before! Looking back, I'm mad I waited so long when it was so obviously in need of cutting! We have it cut every couple of months. We go to a kids salon, and he does great there every time!
DD needs a haircut already, too. Her bangs are always in her face and she's got a pseudo-mullet situation in the back. We definitely can't wait until she turns 1, although that's what I wanted to do.
i would care to assume that boys tend to get their first haircut sooner than girls.
Gisele was around 20 months old- right before our Bahama cruise. The second i got her hair cut it hasn't stopped growing since. She has had three haircuts since. She has very long and wild hair!
The bigger twin (always had more hair) we first cut at 21 months old, I tried to make it to 2, but it was always in her face and she would not keep barretts in.
The smaller twin we just cut at 26 months old, but she was still completely bald at their first birthday.
One of my really good friends has a DS and she started getting his hair cut at about 9-10 months old. He is much better at getting haircuts at almost 2 because he started much younger than my girls. I have to bribe my girls with Twizzlers to get them to sit in the chair and not scream their head off.
So starting early may not be a bad thing. My Mom cuts hair for a living and she said boys usually do better than girls from 0-3 years old because they usually start younger than girls. Now at 3 little girls do really well and boys are just terrors because they fight doing anything.
We didn't cut it at all until a couple of weeks ago (almost 21 months.)
DD#2 got her first hair cut on her 1st birthday and now gets a trim every 3 to 5 months. DD#3 has yet to have one and I dont know when she will need one.
I cut DD's hair for the first time just before her 2nd birthday. She was never one of those babies with a ton of hair, though, just beautiful blond curly locks that eventually got so scraggly I had to clean them up. I've only trimmed them twice since then.
I think a haircut makes little boys look so grown-up though! So brace yourself, and make sure you're ready for a little man.
DS got his first haircut at 10.5 months and has had a haircut every 3-4 weeks since.
DD still has not had a haircut.
My DH just cut Eli's hair on Sunday (10 months old). It was supposed to just be a trim but he took a little bit too much off the front. DS was growing a mullet in the back and it was hanging over his ears.....he really did need it but it was kinda sad for me
I trimmed Ben's bangs myself a few times, but he got his first real haircut 3.5 weeks ago (on Halloween). He'll be 3 @ the end of February. I just couldn't bear to have anyone touch his curls because I thought they were going to lop them all off. It was just getting waaay too long, so I took him to the girl that cuts my hair and she trimmed it up a litte bit, which is exactly what I wanted.
