My guy's favrite part of the kitchen is to open and close the cabinets and fridge. Most of the ones I see wouldn't really work for him. I also would love something simple that is, like, one cabinet he can open and close all he wants and maybe a painted on stove top and sink. I don't need all the bells and whistles. I thought maybe we should make our own. Anyone doing this and, if so, did you find plans online or are you going to wing it?
Thanks!
Re: s/o kitchens (again!)...anyone make their own?
The one thing I would say is that they play with play kitchens well into their preschool years when they start to play pretend, so you may want to make sure that whatever you get (DIY or purchased) still has some of the elements of a regular kitchen.
We have a big one from KidKraft that's fairly simple. It doesn't make noise or anything that some of the plastic ones do, but it just looks like a kitchen. It has lots of doors to open for my younger DD and my older DD loves to play in it.

Yea, I was deinfitely going to try and make it look more like a kitchen. I just keep seeing ones that are wow and I don't think we need all of that. I did just call my Mom to see if she still has my old Strawberry Shortcake one (she keeps everything). It would be PERFECT.

We are making ours out of some bathroom furniture off of target.com It is two pieces. I wanted to be able to customize ours how we wanted. Everything is either pink or red and we likie green.
fridge piece and pantry.
have to make door for oven underneath, but this will be the sink and stove/oven piece.
We have this one

Its big, but relatively simple. The girls love it, and I love all the doors to store their play food :-)
If you or DH is handy, I bet you could find plans online and make something really easily.

I really like this!!
Thanks for all of the ideas, ladies! It would be nice to be able to use calmer colors than I am seeing out there since this most likely will be in my living room. It would be nice to kind of design it on our own.

We are making one out of an old entertainment center like this.
DS and I have to get on it, pronto.
That is seriously adorable.
Oh my word. That is perfect! I never would have guessed it was an old entertainment center. My guy would LOVE that!
