funny mispronounciation memory

I was just reading though some things online and saw a word I remember I hadn't seen written down before when I was younger.  I had just gotten a new game- I can't remember what it was though- it's one where you give a category and you have to write down as many things as you can, maybe starting with a specific letter, but maybe not.  Anyway, we were playing at our dinner one night (I was probably 9ish), The topic was 'finger foods'. My parents and sister couldnt' guess them all so I was listing them off for them all.  Hors d'Oeuvre was one of them. I pronounced it "Horse De Ovaries".  Needless to say, my parents got a HUGE laugh out of it, and I never forgot how to say it again!

    i have something similar...i was talking about the movie Labyrinth and how David Bowie wears a cod-piece in it...but i called it a ***-piece by accident Embarrassed

    my mom's response was "well, it's close enough i guess" and then they all burst out laughing.

    LOL @ both of you.

    I have one that isn't nearly as funny.  I had a friend who in HS called me subtle girl - not pronounced suddle, but sub-tle.  She went around forever doing it, and I figured she was purposely mispronouncing, until one day she came up to me and said that she didn't realize that that was how you spelled 'suddle'.

    I got a Ouija board for Christmas and pronounced it "Ah-oo-ja" until I got the package entirely unwrapped and saw what it was.  That is definitely not how I'd spell "weedgie" ;)

    Umm....hello...I was like in 5th grade & never heard the word before. How was I supposed to know?  They STILL give me a hard time about it.
