Trying to Get Pregnant

pomegranate fruit vs pomegranate juice

I'm wondering if anyone knows if the benefit of pom juice on uterine lining applies to the actual fresh fruit seeds as well.  It seems like an obvious yes, but when I googled, I got a lot of information that pomegranate in general has historically been considered to have contraceptive efffects (??).  Only when I google "pomegranate juice" do I get the pro-fertility results.  Maybe the difference is the firm seedy part in the middle of each pomegranate piece that wouldn't end up in the juice.  Maybe I'm overthinking this!

I ask b/c I am overseas and can't get decent pom juice, but fresh pomegranates are plentiful and inexpensive!

Re: pomegranate fruit vs pomegranate juice

  • I've never ate a pomegranate, do you eat the actual seeds?  Anyway you could make your own juice?

  • You got me thinking---I don't have a juicer/juice extracter so I didn't think I could make juice BUT I just looked on youtube and saw that you can put the seeds in a blender and then strain it all!  Yay!  Thanks!

  • I wondered about this myself.  My guess is that the fruit itself is just as good, it just may not be as concentrated as the juice.

I got the same results on google when I first looked into it, which was enough to turn me away from pomegranate anything. I don't like to take chances. Sorry I don't have anything helpful to contribute though.

  • I don't have time to check into this right now, so don't take my word for it, but I think I remember reading that the pomegranate was thought to have contraceptive "powers"  in the middles ages (and we know what expert medical professionals existed then!).

I also read somewhere that they were used...ahem...internally, rather than orally, if you catch my drift.

  • It's good. I posted this on a few other POM threads, but here you go again!
