When you put new water in your vicks humidifier?

Is there black stuff floating around in the little water that is left? This is our 4th night using it and every morning there is black stuff floating in the water it almost looks like ashes. Is this normal and what is it?

    I noticed the same thing in ours and was wondering about this also.. I guess it might be normal if we're both experiencing this.

    I haven't noticed it in ours, but I'd guess it's just some little particles from the filter.  I wouldn't be too worried about it.

    It's normal. It says something about it on the instructions. When we used ours we rinsed it out and put new water in almost every night.

    I'm sorry I don't know about the vicks humidifier, but with mine, I separate the base/water container and dump out any access water that's just hanging out in the base.  Does that make sense?  The sitting water can cause the filter to mold, I don't think it matters how often you change the water in the container.

    Does your Vicks have mist that you can actually see? I have the Crane Frog one and you can see the cool mist, but our Vicks on has nothing visible and it makes me think it doesn't work right. Also it is crazy loud! Is it broken or are they all this way?

    I lost the receipt a long time ago or I would've just returned it.

    Also, if it has any kind of charcoal filter for the water that is most likely what the black particles are, similar to in your Britta water filter. They's why they recocomend you run them a few times first to get the extra particles out...but I'm not sure if the Vicks has any filter in it :b
