Finger Foods...

I need some suggestions for finger foods.  I'm trying to get DD to eat more on her own and I've tried a few things and have offered them multiple times and she's not real excited.  She eats her purees great and I've been making them much thicker.  She eats puffs, cheerios and yogurt melts no problem.  I've offered her mashed potatos, banana, noodles, steamed apple slices and baked sweet potato.  She seems grossed out by all of these.  She doesn't want to touch them and then smacks her face when I put a little in her mouth.  The only food she has picked up and done anything with is a pickle slice when we were out on Thursday, she sucked it dry.  Maybe she just needs more time...

Re: Finger Foods...

  • Just keep trying and give it a little more time.  Harper took awhile with the finger foods.  I think she was over 10 months before she started even getting the hang of puffs and bananas.  Then she eventually figured it out.  I know my cousin would give her little guy anything just cut up really small at 10 months (sandwhich meat, soft fruit, cheese, etc.).  Good luck.  She'll get the hang of it eventually.

  • What about little pieces of fruit?  Pears, peaches, mandarin oranges.  My little guy is 11 months, and I am having a heck of time getting him to eat finger foods.  He hates stuff with texture.  Tried giving him banana's and he gives you the worst face!  Puffs - he'll do okay for a few and then he chokes on them.  Good Luck!

I just wanted to say how cute your LO is in the yoda costume! I'm already thinking of doing this w/M next Halloween (dh is a big star wars fan)

  • She might not like that they are so soft, my DD was that way. At Walmart, Target etc they make these neat things that kinda look like mesh bags but are designed so they wont choke baby, and are kinda like a paci, Ill post a link. I put a carrot, or apple slice or even orange segment in those for my DD when she was real little and she loved it, she loved I could put lil gerkin pickles in there too (she now loves her veggies, apples and pickles). Lol and they are pretty inexpensive. Theres another kind I think by Gerber, but its a lil less, but let me tell you I used it with both my babies and they LOVED it not to mention my best friend loved it for her son too!

Thanks!  His little girlfriend next door was Princess Leia.  They were too cute!  We had it planned for a few months.
