Question and cold weather vent

It's been asked on the age boards and here as well, but seriously... how the heck to you keep LO from removing their shoes and socks?

M does fine keeping them on if he's walking/running around, but his shoes and socks come off as soon as he's sitting in my lap/in his stroller.

We don't live in the Arctic or anything, but it's chilly out! How do I keep his little feet warm?

Suggestions?

  • Shoes that have laces and double tie them.

  • Good question!  We have the same problem.  Someone suggested to me that I pin S's socks to her pants.  I haven't tried it yet, but that is my next step.
  • Have you tried knee high socks? That under jeans might keep the socks on, ditto the laces/double knots.

  • Feck! I was hoping to avoid laces until he was older, but that makes total sense. Thanks girls!
  • This may sound dumb?and I have this issue too?but I've been telling Aaron that he can't be outside without shoes. That it's a rule. I keep saying that and putting his shoes back on if he takes them off.

It's starting to work. But also I bought him new Robeez, which stay on pretty well. His "real" shoes has velcro and he can get them off in a flash. He much prefers to be barefoot.

  • You might also try boots, they are much harder for them to take off.
  • I used a bundle me with the stroller--they make a toddler size.  That way even if she takes her socks off, her feet stay warm :)
  • Rubber bands? LOL
