I blogged
I trigger tonight and then ER is scheduled for Tuesday. I am starting to freak out a little - it's so close! I am trying to get this house cleaned up enough that I won't be freaking out while I'm supposed to be relaxed and on bedrest. I also have no clue what I am going to tell work or how. I go in tomorrow for pre-op, last bloodwork for a while, and a final u/s prior to ER. I guess I will ask them when they can give me a note. Not sure if I should tell them tomorrow that I have a sudden surgery scheduled for the following day, call in sick and wait until the following week to tell them I had surgery, or just say I was sick and my doctor made me stay home. I just know my nosy boss will be asking a million inappropriate questions that I won't know how to answer without coming off as bittchy and evasive.
Any ideas?

"I will be having a personal medical procedure done on _____ and will be out of work until _____. Here's my doctor's note."
And if any questions are asked tell them you don't feel comfortable discussing it right now.
I would just say it's a personal medical procedure that needs to be done. If she asks for more details, emphasize the personal word again and that you'd rather not discuss it. If she keeps asking, that's harassment. You don't need the stress of trying to figure out what to say if you want to keep it private.

I agree with everyone else on what you should say to your boss. Hope you don't get hassled about it.

eff your boss. Come off as bittchy and evasive as you need to for you. This isn't about her or how much she thinks she needs to know.
Good luck! This is a big big week coming up! Yay!

Thanks ladies! I'll see what the doc gives me tomorrow. If I don't have the note tomorrow, I might just call in sick with exactly what CB said, and if I get it tomorrow I will go to HR and turn it in directly with them.
