Ok on Friday my OB told me to be on bedrest for the rest of the weekend. This after finding that my BP was a little high for me since i usually have really low Bp and I had been seeing spots off and on for a month. Also apparently i had protein in my urine a couple of weeks ago. So ive been at home resting this weekend. But i feel like crap actually kind of weaker today than Ive been for awhile. Im still seeing spots off and on and Ive been having these sharp spasms in my uterus which im assuming is braxton hicks. Only thing is i actually could time them at every 5 mins on Friday for almost an hour and then pretty constant through out the night even waking me up and then it has been off and on since Saturday morning but not is frequent. Is this normal for braxton hicks? I mean of course i will be asking my Ob tomorrow at the appt. But I even wondering is this even braxton hicks ? I have no clue as to what they are really suppose to feel like since this is my first pregnancy...

My dr really hasnt discuss this with me... and i was kind of thinking that it may just be me stressing out that night. But my friend told me thats how they felt to her so now im wondering if thats what it was. And if that was normal to have them off and on all weekend. Ahh im so confused and i really hate calling my dr on call bc i feel like idiot when i call them.
Oh and I just realized that you're in Richmond!

Don't feel stupid for calling, ever! It is their job to make sure you and your baby are okay. I would always rather be safe then sorry.
Edit for my spelling...

Last time I checked my OB was getting paid good money for me to be treated... I learned the hard way better safe than sorry.. CALL YOUR DR!! its their job to be there when you need them.
I was having contractions like you are describing and went in and I was 2cm dilated... welcome to bedrest on some lovely meds... Please call, it could be nothing but it could also be something...
How many weeks along are you?
Protein in the urine, seeing spots, and elevated blood pressure are signs of pre-eclampsia, which is more common in first pregnancies. I would have your doctor address these issues further, as if you do have pre-eclampsia, the only "cure" is delivering the baby, not bedrest. If it is not too progressed, there are things your physician can do to try and manage it, depending on your gestation, however bedrest alone won't do the trick.
Those can be Braxton Hicks. Braxton Hicks do not come with any sort of rythmic frequency. Often times, contractions can be caused from dehydration, so drink plenty of water, change positions, and continue to monitor them. All contractions before a term pregnancy do need to be monitored and taken seriously however. If the contractions do not stop, then you could be in very early labor. Sometimes labor gives you test runs for several days before it becomes definite labor. Braxton Hicks feel a lot like normal contractions, just not as strong and intense as labor will be.
Things like this should be shared with your OB though. That's what he's there for.
No flames from me. Just because you're pregnant doesn't mean you automatically know everything about having a baby or the exact signs to know you are in labor.
I was in labor with my son and had no clue. I went in to see my OB because I had a backache that wouldn't go away. It wasn't painful, just a low dull ache that throbbed....every 4 minutes. I thought labor was supposed to be how it was portrayed on tv. Couldn't be further from the truth. Just as every pregnancy is different, so is every delivery.
If I hadn't started bleeding at 36 weeks with my daughter, I wouldn't have known I was in labor then either. I went to triage for the bleeding and when I was hooked up to the fetal monitors my contractions were every 3-4 minutes apart. I never felt them and she was born the next day.
If you can time what you're feeling then that isn't BH. BH are sporadic. If you are concerned, then call. You are too far along to try and play a guessing game. Do NOT feel bad for asking their opinion, as the PP said...it's what they are paid for.
Had to do it

Yeah you might wanna call or just go in, don't risk anything by waiting.
