Long Island Babies

new mom-to-be!

hello! new to the site, and wanted to say hi! I'm in the Suffolk County south shore area and about 6 1/2 wks pregnant.

I have a question about stretch marks for anyone who can offer some advice!

How soon should you start applying anti stretch mark cream (cocoa butter, creamy baby oil, etc) and which is the BEST kind??

Thanks and congrats to all others who are expecting! :)

  • Hey Congrats... Im 20 weeks prego!

I live on the south shore of Nassau...

From what I have been told the creams are only to keep you moisturized and do not prevent the stretch marks, they are usually hereditary. Ask your mom if she got them while she was pregnant then you will know if you are prone to them.

But in my opinion the earlier you start (especially since it is getting colder now and the dryer skin is coming) the better!

    Good luck!

  • hi & congrats!   unfortunately i've mostly heard that it is genetic too.  the creams can't hurt, but if you are going to get them, you're going to get them.  some drs say its genetics, others aren't quite sure why some ladies get them and some don't, but there is no guarantee that a cream will help.  ive also heard vitamin e may help because it does a lot of good for your skin, but again, no promises.  stinks!!!  grrr....  good luck though :)
