Ellie is kicking like crazy and I wonder what she's thinking. Is she kicking because of random nerve twitches or is she trying to stretch out? Is she kicking my turkey sandwich thinking "Geeze mom, it's cramped in here already without your lunch."
Watching her on the u/s she was petting her own face. I wonder if she knows and does it because it feels good or she's exploring her own face or if she just has no where else to put her hands.
I guess it's kind of silly. You don't see a newborn with the motor skills to play with things consciously yet.
Re: Do you ever wonder what they're doing in there?
I do! Quite often too!
My LO seems to have quite a personality already... she was kicking my bladder recently, so I jokingly scolded her out loud... a few seconds after that, I got about 5-6 consecutive hard kicks on the opposite side.
At my u/s last week, her hand was up on her forehead, diva-style... looked like a "leave me alone, it's too effing early" (it was 8am).
She's gotta be thinking "WTF was I thinking beating out those other sperm?? These people are nuts."
My LO has done this twice and it was the strangest feeling!!!
And I too always wonder what she is doing in there when she starts kicking up a storm! Or what she is thinking. We went to a wedding on Saturday and every time they started playing the piano during the ceremony she started kicking like crazy!
I have humanity's laziest fetus. I honestly think he does a whole lot of nothing in there. At first I blamed my anterior placenta, but as time goes on, I think he's really just pretty chill and doesn't do much. I'd say that 75% of his "movements" are just hiccups. The other 25% feel like stretches or rolls. He almost never makes purposeful movements like kicks or punches that I can feel.
At literally EVERY ultrasound I've had, he just sits around doing nada mucho.
My doc says some babies are just "less inclined toward movement" - loosely translates to "lazy baby."

How funny - FI and I were just talking about this yesterday! My tummy was jumping up and down and I was wondering if she is having a party in there or what. I wonder how she actually kicks or bumps up against the outside of my tummy so much. She must get bored in there and decides she needs some exercise.
The nurses at L&D said that she wasn't even very active! Holy moly- I hate to see what an "active' baby is like then cause sometimes I feel like she punched or kicked the crap out of my organs and bladder.
I can't wait to meet her!!!
Pretty sure mine is using my spine as a stripper pole. That's the only explanation I can think of for my horrendous back pain.
And every time I get those weird cervical head-butts, I think of the time my dumb cat ran into the screen door.
