NBR - oops! breach of netiquette?

I lurk on several boards and occasionally post and it came to my attention that on the smaller boards, often posters "introduce" themselves.  I never did this here so if that's rude, I'm sorry!  Embarrassed

So here it is... a bit late.  I'm 38, DH is also.  We are proud parents of one feisty little girl named Teagan, almost 14 months.  After struggling with the decision for months, we are TTC #2, fingers and toes are crossed :)  We live in Southern Cal. and love it here but miss our families who live in Seattle and Albuquerque, respectively. That's us in a nutshell, again, sorry if that was rude to just jump in here where there are so many regular posters.  Oh, and happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

  • Welcome and hi!  Don't worry about the lurking/posting.  I introduced myself and then lurked for a bit before I started posting.  You'll find this board is very relaxed and very welcoming.

How long did you live in ABQ?  I'm there now and we are in the process of want to move to Washington in 2- 3 years.  Look forward to learning more about you in the future.  And GL with TTC!

  • Wow I've been a posting whore on this board and likewise never formally introduced myself in the beginning!  Ok well I'm 42, DH is 53, we are proud parents of almost 14 month old Simon and we are one and done given both our ages and a rough pregnancy that I'd rather never repeat!  We live in Tahoe, came from Southern Cal (and I'm originally from Canada), both self employed and we have 2 yellow labs and 3 black cats.  I foster neo-natal kittens (bottle babies) for our local Humane Society and do other animal charity work. The reason we had a kid so late is that DH never wanted kids so it took me the whole 10 years of our marriage to convince him...now he's happy he did and is an awesome father!

  • Meh. I don't think anyone really cares here. But then, I'm not really an arbiter of netiquette.

Thanks :)  DH actually grew up in ABQ, I'm the Washington native so can help you w/questions about that if you like, although I haven't lived there in (gasp!) 13 years.  He lived in ABQ until his early 20's so I guess that was until the early 90's.  He came out here and never went back.  We go to ABQ regularly though, much of his family is still there and he has to get his green chile fix.  I am also addicted, SO yummy.

Ah the green chile - that is one of things we are trying to figure out when we move - how to get Hatch green chile and Dixon apples.  As it is, I have to send green chile to three different people each year - my SO's mom, and two of my best friends who moved away.  I think the post office laughs each September when I bring my boxes - lol.[

This - we're pretty cool and classy ladies on this board.  Respectful and non-dramatic (well, most of the time anyways)  Wink

Welcome!  I'm 38 and DH is a young 49.  It took us 3 yrs, but we had DS1 in 2009 and 6 months later became "unexpectedly" (I was on the minipill) pregnant with twins.  Our lives are very hectic now, but wonderful.  We've both lived in S.Florida all our lives and are hoping to retire in TN one day, but may move to Tampa temporarily in a short while for business.  Good luck with TTC!

See, now, you gotta appreciate the mystery... Know what I mean?? Hehehe

Fortunately, we really don't have lots of rules on this board, except we like to play nice. Being busy with a toddler, I miss enough days and posts that it would be high and mighty of me to assume that just because I didn't see it - it didn't happen - or even that it should of.

Congrats on your little fireball - love her name BTW. I have one of those myself.

GL TCC-ing #2. Don't cross everything, Mmmmkay???? Wink

Seriously, though... How do you give the little kittens back after you foster them? I would have 75 cats running around my house!

I have a yellow lab also. He's da bestest!

I adopt them out so I know they're going to good homes, I tend to bond more with older cats than kittens anyway.  True dat yellow labs are the best!  I drove to SLC two years ago and rescued 7 labs from shelters all over the Salt Lake area (I voluteered with Golden Gate Lab Rescue), brought them back and found them awesome homes here in California, it's crazy how many good labs there are on death row in Utah!

That is awesome that you rescued the labs! I saw that in your other post - about coming to Utah for the dogs and the mountain biking. I think  people underestimate how long they are rowdy for and how many years it takes to settle down (usually). I know I did. I was expecting a *puppy* for 2 -ish years. It took over 4 years. He is an awesome dog, but he is A LOT of dog and soooo smart! Combine that with large families and I guess some people choose to give them up rather than train them and, well, just wait it out. It's very sad.

  • Ha!  Welcome, belatedly!

Yeah, we're not really into formalities in this little neck of the Bump.  Lessee...

I'm 42, a US citizen, unofficial spousal unit is 32 and French.  Margaux is about 13 months, and has French, US and Canadian citizenship.  We've newly come to Petaluma, CA after a harrowingly awful moving experience.  I'm a former video game designer, Rom is a programmer, we have three fluffmonster cats and are pet-sitting a smallish dog until next week.

We're going to Longmont/Boulder to visit my family this Christmas, I am looking forward to seeing snow again!

  • LOL! Love the late intro. No worries about any netiquette breach here.

I'll try to do the short-short version: I'm 40 and DH is 39. First marriage for me, 2nd for him (no kids). We met 4+ years ago. Engaged 3 years ago. Married 2+ years ago. Had Aaron 15 months ago.  One and done family because of age and financial hole we dug ourselves. We live in NJ and both have sucky jobs that pay crap. I work for family Halloween biz that is, unfortunately, tanking and need a new career path ASAP. DH is in customer service for a NY company and the commute and job is killing him.

But otherwise we're just boring people with extended family issues. We're moving in with my folks to a) help take care of them and b) get our butts out of debt. The only thorn in the mix is my brother (almost 37) who has major emotional/social issues.

Oh, and I talk too much and share way too much. I'm pretty much exactly the same in person as I am here.

That is so cool!  I would love to do rescue work.  I tried to foster a puppy, but DD was terrified of him, and I practically had a breakdown over having to give him back (literally, laying on the floor with him crying), so it's safe to say that I don't make a good foster.  God bless those of you who can handle it, though!

And sorry, an official welcome to you racampbell.  Like Noelle said, I miss so many posts coming on here every few days that I just assumed I missed it.  I'm Kristel, also in Southern California.  I'm 36 (until Dec 6) and DH is 37, and we have a 2-year-old daughter, 2 cats and 2 dogs.
