Anyone got any tips on how to keep a curious 13 month old from destroying the Christmas tree?
I had thought about one of those round baby gates, but we don't use any baby gates in our house (one story, not a huge house) and I don't want to spend a 100 bucks on something that will be basically a one time thing.
Right now I am thinking my options consist of baby friendly ornaments at the bottom, and lots of "We don't touch the tree" although I did consider getting a smaller table sized tree and letting her have her own tree, but I still think she'd be interested in the big tree. She's starting to understand the word "no" but she is at that age where she is testing her boundaries and seeing just what she can do and not do and of course she is curious about everything, so as we do plan on doing the "We don't touch the tree" obviously she is probably still going to try it a few times.
So anyone got any tips?
Re: Christmas trees and toddlers?
I was worried about this also. We put up our tree yesterday and so far Kennedy has been awesome with it. I think it helps that her sitter also already has their tree up so Kennedy knows that she's not supposed to touch it.
If she starts playing with it more, we'll probably put the supergate up around the tree. But we'll see.
(btw, I can't see how you live without baby gates! I'm amazed. We have a one-story house too but our house looks like fort knox we've got so many baby gates. Basically to be able to keep Kennedy contained in one part of the house so that she doesn't run into every room and get into everything! It's particularly bad now that she can open door knobs!)

Thanks ladies. We haven't actually put our tree up yet so I am not sure how she is going to be with it, she may surprise us
Brooke that's a great idea about tying them to the tree..not only for Aubrey but also for our cats lol.
Lydia so far it's been easy with no baby gates...but she also isn't walking yet or opening doors since she can't reach them...we'll see how things are when she gets to those stages
I am so glad you guys are talking about this. I was wondering the same. I am afraid Madi is going to try to pull up on the tree. TIMBER!
We already have to put the gifts on a table instead of under the tree because our dog thinks it is something to "mark." Thought about the octogon baby gate.
