The last week I've been trying to wake before the kids, and that has helped things be less crazy when they do wake. Today I was too tired so I slept until DD1 woke up, and as a result I feel like I've been catching up all morning. So I guess I do need to respond to that alarm ...
Anyway, what does your morning look like?
Re: Talk to me about your morning routine
I SAH with my kids. I usually plan out my week, meals, etc. on Sunday's.
In the morning, I get up, dressed, etc. and have at least a cup of coffee before the kids get up.
They are immediately dressed! I find it's easier to get the day going when we're all dressed.
My diaper bag is always packed and replenished before I go to bed.
It depends on if we have somewhere to go early. Today we had Little Gym at 9:15am, so DD#2 started stirring at 6:30am, and I got up, changed, dressed and fed her. Then I went to take my shower with her in the bouncy seat. When I got out, I heard DS making noise in his room (7:15ish). I went in there, got him changed and dressed, then brought him out to the kitchen for breakfast. He ate his breakfast, then we had a little play time before we had to leave at 8:45am. Little Gym lasted until 10am, when DD needed to eat again, so I brought them out to the car, strapped DS in and gave him a snack, and then fed DD in the car. Then we went to the playground for a while before heading home for lunch (DD napped on the go in the car for the morning).
Other days, I get up with whomever wakes up first - usually around 7-7:30ish. I get them both changed and dressed, give DS his breakfast and while he is eating I feed DD (or if she was up earlier than DS and has already eaten, she has some play time while he eats). Around 8:30-9ish, DD is ready for a nap, so I put DS in the pack and play downstairs with some toys and Sesame Street on, and put DD down for her nap. Then I head downstairs and take my shower in the bathroom off of the family room near DS. Then DS and I play, or do some sort of activity until DD wakes up (usually only 45-60 min nap). Then I feed DD again, and we head out of the house to do some sort of outside activity (music class, story time, playground, errands, etc).
