Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Food question- what brand cereal bars, yogurt, grahams?

What kinds of these do you give your LO?  I am having a hard time finding good, nutritionally-sound options in the supermarket that are whole grain, low in sugar, and don't have a lot of artificial ingredients, preservatives, colors, etc.  Any suggestions?

I've found Kashi and Earth's Best cereal bars to be decent.  Anything better out there I should know about?

Any suggestions for flavored yogurt that are whole milk and low(er) in sugar and no aritificial flavors/colors?  (We have tried to give him greek yogurt with fruit or applesauce or honey mixed in to sweeten, with mixed results.)

Also, anyone know a brand of whole grain graham crackers?

TIA!

  • For the yogurt try Yo-baby or Yo-toddler.

They come in lots of different flavors ...  the Yo-baby is made with organic whole milk and I believe the Yo-toddler is made with organic lowfat or 2% milk.

FWIW you can pretty much find Yo-baby anywhere ...

  • I get the Earth's Best cereal bars because they have a higher amount of iron (I think 45% DV?)

I get the YoBaby yogurt by Stoneybrook (or something like that) Farms.

  • Ugh, I'm right there with you!

The best yogurt that fits that description is Brown Cow. It's whole milk, no refined sugar (it's sweetened with maple syrup and cane juice) and nothing artificial at all.

I have never seen whole grain graham crackers, which is ridiculous. I'm also searing for lower-sugar cereal bars, but I also don't want a crapload of Splenda either.

I feel like stores like Whole Foods probably have more options, but I don't have anything like that near me.

  • We do YoBaby yogurt.

& if we do grahams or crackers or whatever, it's just the store-brand kind that I would buy anyway.  He doesn't eat a ton of it, so I don't worry about iron & sugar & stuff.  ::shrugs::

  • The only thing about YoBaby, and we buy it a lot too, is that it has added refined sugar.

That, and the containers are too small for my little piglet :)

  • We buy Yobaby or Yotoddler organic yogurt and Earth's Best organic cereal bars. She loves both.
  • We don't buy cereal bars or graham crackers

LO gets plain Stoneyfield Farms Whole Milk yogurt.  He eats it plain, or sometimes we'll mix in various fruits or veggies.

  • Honestly the main reason I like YoBaby is that there's a baby on the container and Sadie squeals and points and says, "Baby!" the whole time she's nomming her yogurt. Embarrassed

  • Annie's makes pasta, snacks (cheddar, honey, whole wheat "bunnies"- crackers), and other stuff.

In my Shop Rite there's an "Eating Right" section with A LOT of "better for you' kind of brands.

There's also Plum Tot, Revolution Foods, Happy Baby and Ella's Kitchen.

My son also LOVES flavored Kefir. I just pour it in his straw cup and he'll have that for lunch. It's filling.

  • There is wayy too much sugar in the yobaby so I buy a tub of plain yogurt and mix in fruit.

We buy the Earth's Best cereal bars. DD gets them as a special treat cause they are really sweet.

And I make my own graham crackers. I got the recipe from weelicious.com super easy and healthy. We do buy Annie's bunnies to keep on hand for emergencies.
