How much do they watch per day? And what is one show they will never be allowed to watch?
G usually watches two Yo Gabba Gabba's a day. One in the late morning and one while I am making dinner. And if I have anything to do with it he will never ever watch Sponge Bob.
Re: if your LO watches TV...
We watch 3-4 shows per week, either YGG or Jack's Big Music Show. We DVR them both.
I agree that Sponge Bob won't ever be on her radar if I can help it. I also hate Wonder Pets, Max & Ruby, and several more. But I'd let her watch them.
I probably let DS watch too much.
He usually does a PBS show in the am, and then some Wiggles after his nap to wake him up a bit. Lately, DH has been watching holiday shows with him in the evening as a special treat before bed. DS is really digging old school claymation.
I don't think I will let him watch Sponge Bob or any of the cartoons meant for older kids.
I let G watch either one YGG or one Sesame street a day during snack time. I really dislike Blues Clues or Barney so I am not exposing them to her.
I am surprised at all the Sponge Bob haters. I love that show!! If its still around when she gets older I would totally allow G to watch. I wouldn't have her watch it as a little one, though.

She usually watches Elmo's World around 6:45 until 7 while I drink some coffee. Sometimes I'll leave the TV on and Arthur is on. At this point though she is totally awake and on to her toys.
Then sometimes in the evening DH will put a video on for her. Usually Winnie the Pooh, she loves him!
We do not have cable and we have about 3 DVD's for her (Pooh, Baby Einstein and a Sesame Street thing). Her options are limited, which I like.
I'm sure there will be some crazy shows as she gets bigger that will we will not want her to watch. As long as she is at an age that we can limit what she is watching, we will. When she gets into school and there is pressure to watch certain shows, we will watch them with her to discuss things we do not agree with. I'm kind of against setting up a forbidden fruit scenario, KWIM?
Barney drives me crazy..but my little brother learned all his ABC's and numbers from Barney so I think its good that way..But his voice is so annoying lol
during the week the girls watch 1 pbs show before lunch at dc while lunch is being made and sometime when we get home from work and are making dinner we put on fraggle rock...they love that fricken intro and all the songs...I didn't remember all the singing on there...
We usually watch one episode of whatever happens to be on Qubo in the late afternoon, when I'm trying to get something accomplished and he's tired of all of his toys somehow. Sometimes, we'll put on another episode in the evening so the Hubby and I can talk for a few minutes without Miles trying to crawl between us/on us/over us/etc. (He's like a bulldozer. Seriously.)
ETA: Oh, and there will be no Sponge Bob if I can help it. I worked with emotionally disturbed kiddos once, and there was a kid who thought he was Sponge Bob. Most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen. I just can't watch that show (or see any of its merchandise) without thinking about that kid.
He really only watches about 15 minutes in the morning while I am getting ready. I turn it on Sprout and its usually The Wiggles that is on, which he loves. He is in daycare during the day, so no TV there.
During the weekends, we have the TV on more, usually football etc, which for some reason he LOVES.
