Hello everyone! Unfortunately, I haven't been on this board much since my daughter was born in May and I started back to work full time. I've been struggling with giving her solids, and I thought you ladies may have some insight or advice.
My daughter is 6 1/2 months old, and she has zero interest in solids. I have tried cereal (rice and oatmeal) mixed with breastmilk, and stage 1 baby foods. She took very small amounts for a while, but now she purses her lips and refuses to open up. When I do manage to get her to smile and then sneak some into her mouth, she immediately spits it at me, gags, or cries.
I'm still nursing, and she is above-average on the weight charts. I'm not worried about her gaining weight, and I'm starting to think maybe I should just give up for a while.
Any thoughts or experience?
Re: My baby hates solids...advice?
Andrew went through a phase for about 6-8 months, he wanted nothing to do with it. (We started early around 4 months.)
We just backed off. We still offered 1-2x/day, but we never pushed or forced him. If it was 1 bite, so be it.
Once he got older he perked up! I don't know why. Could be teething related, or just a sudden interest.
I would stop and retry in another week or two (and then repeat if still not ready).
I don't know if it's possible, but I wouldn't want to create a negative experience as she first starts solids....but I may be way over-thinking this
