January 2011 Moms

Anyone feel like their slacking?

With my ds I was all ready by now.  And by all ready I mean clothes carefully folded in drawers, closet all arranged, nursery done, supplies bought.

This time I have bought a few clothes in nb and preemie size since they may have to do my c/s early. but the clothes are all pretty much in a pile, nursery is 1/2 done, and I have yet to go get mylicon, diapers, bfing stuff and bottles.  I can't seem to get motivated!  Anyone else feel the same?

Re: Anyone feel like their slacking?

  • I'm slacking this time around. I was all prepared for ds by this time. I have a tote in the basement I need to start going through to see what bottles I have. I just got into some of the baby stuff in the basement today to pull out the car seat pad, swing pad and bouncer pad so I can get those washed and get them put together. I really need to sit down and figure out what I have and make a list of things I need to do/buy.

  • I'm the same way.  I want to do a BRU trip for stuff before the LO arrives and was hoping to do so before Christmas but DH thinks "it is ridiculous" and we can just get stuff after the baby is here.  Guess I'll have to go by myself when I'm on break.

  • Yes. I did not start as early as I should have on shifting things from one room to another and getting the nursery set up. Right now there is still stuff in the nursery that needs to be moved out and I feel like I should reorganize the office too since a bunch of stuff just got put in there. Unfortunately the room still won't be finished until after LO gets here, because we a being given our crib by a friend (it is less than 2 years old and has not been recalled) who will be transitioning her daughter out of it in Jan. I also still have a ton of stuff that needs to be bought.

That sounds like my nursery!! I mean, we do have a few bottles... as in 6... but the going is slow on getting the smaller things. Granted, we just rearranged our whole bedroom, downsized the bed frame and gave the massive one we had away... :( If LO comes early, he'll have nowhere to sleep.

  • Yes. I started preparing early and we do have everything we need, it's just a matter of getting the last finishing touches done. Motivation is low...
  • I'm feeling like a slacker. We have had the nursery set for a while, but I still need a lamp, curtians, and some decorations for the room. I also have to get the baby things we still need that we didn't get at the shower.

  • I definitely feel behind, but don't feel like I can do too much more right now.  We still have two showers left (both the weekend following Thanksgiving) so I'm holding out for those.

I'm so excited for after the showers when we can finish purchasing anything remaining on our registries and finally put the nursery together.  Right now it's a total disaster!  The crib and dresser are set up, there's bedding on the crib, and we have a changing pad/cover.  Taking up the entire middle of the room is my huge drafting table with sewing machine set up on top, and scraps of fabric and thread all. over. the. place.  There are also picture frames all over the floor because I'm trying to decide which ones I want to use, and how to arrange them.

Grrr... I can't wait until my week off at Christmas to tackle the rest of my to-do list: freezer meals, have car detailed, and deep-clean the apartment one last time!

  • I haven't even started on the nursery, only have a few outfits (which are sitting in a box with all my daughter's old clothes), no diapers, or basic supplies...yeah, I'm really slacking this time.

  • Not sure if it's that I dont have motivation or that I just have no clue what to get :S it's my first and I want to be "smart" about the things I get, dont want to be the type of first time mom that is paranoid and buys all sorts of things that I dont really need. Plus I want to wait for my work shower, once I'm done with the shower I think I will have a better clue as to what my next step is but, yeah I just have things in piles right now.
  • I just started clearing out the nursery yesterday. We have a few clothes, the swing, and an exersaucer (all bought for us). My shower isn't until Dec 11th so I'm not too worried yet, but the nursery isn't completely empty yet (this will be finished by Wednesday night) and we haven't even ORDERED our furniture yet. UGH. I'm slacking and starting to get overwhelmed by how much is still left.
