I can't seem to find this online...thought one of you might have experienced it lately.
Am I going to basically be forced into a "pat-down" if we are flying with Cason next week? Obviously he can't stand with his hands over his head in the body scanner and I'm assuming we can't hold him while we are in it. I'm guessing we wont be able to pass him through to each other...
Is he going to get a "pat-down"?
I'm not really concerned, I just sort of want to know what to expect.
Re: carrying infant through airport security
Did you already read this?
https://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/index.shtm
yes, but its out-dated since it only talks about the old metal detectors, which you could carry the baby through.
oh, so the metal detector may still be an option... i'll keep my fingers crossed for that.
I could be totally wrong, so let me (us) know how it goes!
But I think it's still going to be the same when it comes to metal detectors The body scanner and/or pat down only comes into play if 1) you're randomly selected on your boarding pass (i.e. I believe it has "sss" on it, FYI, you can ask for them to reissue you a new boarding pass) OR if 2) the metal detector beeps.
You will have to hold your baby, they won't let you have him in a carrier or stroller or anything to push him through the detector.
We've travelled to Portland, San Diego, and Fayeteville (AR) with DD in the last month and not a single time have we been selected for the full-body scanner or the pat down.
Hope you guys don't get selected either.
