We have a Greek thanksgiving which means all the typical fixings plus grape leaves and a lamb dish.
Mmm... Love Greek food. We get some greek treats at our thanksgiving; which we have at (a) National Coney Island... lol... part of DH's family is greek. ?
its probably uncommon to eat on TG...but pupusas. hubby & his fam are from el salvador so we eat traditional type foods...tamales (salvadorean style), quesadilla (not what u're thinking...its like a sweet, light cornbread), champurado (thick, cinnamony hot chocolate-ish drink), frijoles & queso fresco/duro. oh goodness i can't wait.
my side cooks a traditional soul food style TG dinner. can't wait for that either. i already know where my unanswered 10 holiday pounds are coming from.
Oooh, I want some fried cauliflower! My mom always makes spicy black eyed peas, and I lurve them.
Have you had fried cauliflower before? I've actually never met anyone else that's had it.
I've never had black eyed peas, but I'm thinking I should try some soon.
I haven't, but I definitely want to try it.
As a Texan, I cannot believe you have never tried black eyed peas.
LOL, well I guess it's less common where I grew up. Plus I've never been a fan of beans until recently.
I too am a Texan who has never had Black Eyed Peas. I also don't eat bacon. I understand if you don't want to be friends anymore after this confession.

I am shocked to my core. You seemed so normal!
Everyone has skeletons in the closet. Mine happens to be a dislike for bacon. And by dislike, I mean I won't eat it or most anything with bacon in it.
My family has always made fried cauliflower, which is AMAZING!!
Seriously, it's something I look forward too ALL year long. I'm so excited for Thursday!
OMG THIS!!! ME TOO!!! I seriously thought after 32 yrs of no one ever having this, my Nonna was a Saint in dress-up. Everyone always makes a face at first- until they try it and then it's over from there--- instant lovers!
Re: Uncommon TG foods you love?
Acorn Squash, baked w/ brown sugar & a drizzle of maple syrup.?
Mmmm...?
That does sound good!! I've only recently become a fan of acorn squash when I gave some to DS, but I may try that recipe!

Nothing really uncommon, but I make a yummy savory mushroom stuffing instead of a traditional kind of stuffing and it's SO good!
And, my MIL makes a raspberry salad with jello and cool whip that is so yummy!
