2nd bedroom nursery/office? Help please!

We currently live in a 2 bedroom townhouse and I work from home. The second bedroom is my office/guest bedroom. So I am getting rid of the futon for the guests but I have no idea how I can convert this room into a nursery/office. I really don't want to do this but have no choice. Is anyone else in this situation or do you currently have an office/nursery and would like to share pics? Thanks!!!!

  • I have my work office in the living room.  Is it possible to section off a corner for that?

  • I would do some google searches for inspiration photos.  I do a little work from home, and have this desk in the corner of our living room.  When I dont' want it to be seen, I just close it up. There is a TON of storage and takes up about 8 sq ft of floor space.  It's an IKEA Alve desk, and googled to find this photo of it in a room.  There are lots of ideas out there!

The living room/dining room/kitchen is a big open space and it is filled with my furniture. I guess I just can't picture how it will look if I move my office to the living room.

  • we'll be downsizing the really nice, but large, desk in the to-be baby's room, and moving a smaller desk and the computer into a corner in the living room.  you could get a nice wall screen if you're set on dividing the room.

Thanks these are the kind of ideas I am looking for I did find this that is pretty cool. I think the problem is the fax/copier. It is big and I can't figure out how to hide it!  https://www.crateandbarrel.com/furniture/filing-cabinets-carts/incognito-white-compact-office/f37252

This is exactly what I'm doing. We have a fairly large dining room and currently, just the table in there. What we're currently using as the office will be the baby's room.

  • I would try to get your work stuff into the living room or your bedroom.  It will be difficult to have your little one nap in the room where you're working now...

This is exactly what I was thinking.  It's going to be hard working in a room with a sleeping baby.

  • We turned our photography studio into the office so that room could be the nursery.  Tough decisions, but you'll forget about it fast :)
  • I'm in a very similar situation - 2 bedroom townhouse.  The other bedroom is used up as my husband's work area (works from home).  Unfortunately our living area is way small in the downstairs - sacrifice for a large kitchen.  We'll have to put the crib/bassinet in our bedroom and changing area/dresser will be squeezed into the office somehow.  Our bedroom is small as it is - crib has to go to the foot of our bed.
  • We've found a home for our futon and plan to move the desk into the bedroom.  It would be nice to have a smaller desk if i could find one super cheap.

  • We live in a 2 bedroom apartment and my DH is in law school. Currently we are thinking keeping the baby in the bedroom and letting him keep his office for schoolwork. Obviously, we'll have to see how that goes. If worse comes to worse, we've discussed converting the dining room into his office, the baby's room or our bedroom to create an additional bedroom. Our upstairs neighbor's have the same floor plan (obviously) and they use the dining room as a bedroom.
  • All these ideas are great! Thanks for sharing! I have been looking and I think that I am going to get some kind of "hidden" desk to keep in the living room. I was also going to just move everything in the garage but DH said I would be too cold. So I think the living room is the best option. Thanks again!!
