3rd Trimester

My fast induction birth story

I went in to be induced last friday morning at 6:30.  Going into my induction I was already 4-5 cm and very thin.  We got there and I was very nervous because I didn't know what to expect but it all turned out to go smoothly.  The nurse put the IV in at about 7:00 and then went over what we should expect through the day.  She said they would start the pitocin low and slow and then gradually increase it through out the day.  Pitocin was started at about 7:30, I didn't really feel any contractions until my Dr. broke my water at 8:30.  Then the fun started!  I got up to walk around and that lasted all of 5 minutes until I could stand any longer.  The contrations came on hard.  By 9:00 I was back in bed and ready for an epidural.  I thought I would try and tough it out as long as I could but that lasted until about 9:30 when I was begging for some relief.  The anesthisiologist (sp?) was moving as fast as he could to get me the epidural.  He kept saying he didn't want to be there for the birth...I guess the nurse was gestuing to him to hurry up because the baby was coming sooner rather than later.  At that time the nurse check me and I was at 7cm.  She had to leave because the lady next door was ready to push.  By 10:00 I called the nurse back because I didn't know if I had to push or if I just had to go to the bathroom.  No one was coming so at 10:15 I had my husband go and find the nurse because I thought I had to push.  At that time I was literally clenching to hold myself from pushing.  Finally the nurse came in at 10:30 and told my I was ready to push.  She was rushinng to get my Dr. in the room to catch the baby.  I pushed 3 times and our darling baby girl. Lola Ann, arrived in the world at 10:38 weighing 7lbs 6 oz and 19 inches.
