I thought maybe posting this under 2nd trimester might be better because you folks are further along and have experienced a little more with pregnancy!
So, this afternoon (about 2 hrs ago) when I went to the bathroom, I dripped red blood into the toilet and also saw it when I wiped! (sorry for the tmi). I'm wearing a liner now - and there's nothing on it at all. I've been spotting off and on for the last 5 days, but it's been very light and brown. I also had my first u/s yesterday and was told that the fetal pole and sac were both there and looked normal.
I'm so scared. I spoke with my doc's nurse on call and she said there's really no reason to go to the ER if I'm not in any kind of pain. I have a lot of bloating, but I've had that for two weeks due to trapped air/gas and constipation from my prenatals.
Anyone else have this happen!! I guess I just won't sleep until I can get in with the doc on Monday. I just hate not knowing. It's really wearing on me!
Re: Need Input from "further-alongs" - scared!
were you taking a crap? it could be the roids!
if you are sure that that's not the case, then you may find peace in going to the ER instead of waiting until monday. but it is quite normal to spot in pg. if the red continues, i personally suggest going to the ER to see what's up.
good luck!
Thanks everyone for the helpful input! It makes me feel a little better. I think the fact that today it was RED and not the light, light brown I've been seeing off and on, just completely freaked me out!!!
I really appreciate everyone sharing experiences. It REALLY is helpful!
(btw - Artsywife - LOVE your pooches!! They're awesome! I see you're in Atlatna, too!)
Did you have a transvaginal u/s or did they give you a pap at your appointment? I had a pap done at my first appointment and was spotting the next day. My OB told me it was probably going to happen.
I also had two days straight of spotting right around 6 weeks and they had me come in for an u/s and everything looked great. If it's not enough to fill a pad and you don't have pain, you are probably fine, but if you want the peace of mind, go to the ER.
I had brown spotting around 6 weeks and around 8 weeks I had significant amount of bright red bleeding. Turns out I had a "subchorionic hemmorhage." It was basically a pocket of fluid in my uterus. The blood was that fluid leaving.
I know it's impossible, but I recommend just trying to calm down. The stress you're feeling right now is probably worse for your baby-to-be then releasing a little blood.
I had a vaginal u/s yesterday morning w/no pap.
The more posts like this that I'm reading, the more relaxed I'm becoming. Thanks so much.
I know, you're totally right! ugh. I'm trying to relax
This was going to by my question. If they did, it is fairly normal to notice a little blood. Just relax between today and tomorrow, if you notice any cramping or if the bleeding gets heavier then go to the doctor/ER.
You can go to the ER if you're really worried.
I spotted (and cramped) when I was pregnant with the twins and now they're 8 months old!
Thanks! They have quite the personalities!
You actually should post this on the 1st tri board because I spotted at 6 or 7 weeks, got an early u/s, and then realized it's really common (from seeing other posts on the 1st tri board). My MW told me it's from implantation. I know, you read that implantation happens in the first days, but this is when the baby burrows further into you and sometimes you'll have bleeding.
If you had a u/s yesterday, you are probably fine. Try to stop worrying. I know, easier said than done.
Thanks again everyone. I appreciate all the input.
Well - like a paranoid 1st-time preg woman - I ended up going to the ER last night because I was stressing out more by not knowing anything. I really wish I wouldn't have gone. They did a vag u/s and get this....couldn't find anything! However, the doc didn't think this was b'cuz of a m/s. She said she really thinks that my bleeding would've been heavier and include clots or tissue. Also, my cervix is very tilted and I know the u/s tech at my doctor's office on Friday had to really "search" to find LO. So, I'm just hoping and praying that the tech at the ER just wasn't able to get the right angle!? ugh. My HGH level last night was 2500, but we have no baseline to compare it to - so no clue if that's good. Should've just sucked it up and waited until Monday
I wouldn't beat myself up over this decision if I were you. You wanted an answer and instead of worrying about it all weekend, you got it. Of course, the bill for the visit will suck
but it's better knowing there is nothing wrong instead of having it on your mind for days.
Yeah, but that's just it - I DIDN'T get an answer. Now I'm just more worried since they couldn't see anything on the u/s at the ER! ugh.
