We own the cheap Calphalon line of non-stick cookware and the Teflon is starting to chip away, which I noticed yesterday. I immediately stopped using it and threw out I was making (luckily, it wasn't looking tasty anyway-- par for my kitchen skills
) and then checked my other two saucepans and frying pans. Both are looking kind of battered to the point where I am worried that they'll be in the same place with chipping Teflon soon. I have not been as gentle on them as I should have (particularly with my wire whisk, which I now KNOW I shouldn't have used), and while I know Calphalon would probably replace them, I'd really prefer to have stainless steel/aluminum bottom without non-stick coating.
Since we're not in the market for a whole new set of pots and pans, I am thinking of getting some of the Ikea 365+ pieces (stainless) to tide us over until we can afford a nicer set someday. I just need something for the basics-- cooking pasta, etc., nothing fancy. Has anyone used Ikea's pots or pans? Any recommendations? Or, if you've gone through something similar, any ideas/thoughts on what else, if not Ikea?
Re: Does anyone own Ikea cookware? Calphalon is chipping...
Thanks-- do you know when it'll be up?
