January 2011 Moms

has anyone played Sims 3 for the PC?

Wondering if anyone's played this game and if so, whether it's appropriate for a 12yo.

  • I haven't, but I have played all the other Sims games. I think it would be OK for a 12 year old... although, you can make your Sims make out and "make babies". LOL

    Man, that game is addicting.

  • It's fun, but you can make the characters have sex... even though it's under the covers and you don't see anything - you deff know what is going on.

  • The older versions had fireworks occur above the bed when it was sexy time and I think they also could kiss, but you had to build up the relationship to that point.

Maybe when I retire I can play that game again.  I miss it but real life responsibilities are what I have to do now, booo.  I liked it better when I could just simulate my life :)

I LOVED building/decorating the houses the most on that game.

  • This is one of my favourite games!! When my DH bought it for me last xmas I was soo excited... well....untill the dog ate the disc a few weeks later.

I would ask the parents if they think it's an appropriate gift.. if they are ok with it, then I think you are in the clear. My little sister was playing this game at that age - but my parents really didn't have any rules about things like that.

  • It's what my 12yo sister is asking for for Christmas - my mom has no rules for her whatsoever and usually relies on the older siblings to tell her if something's not appropriate (last year, I had to tell her that an 11yo little girl has no business having a facebook page.  When I explained why I felt that way, she agreed, but she really didn't give it any thought when my sister asked her).
