Sleeping with a pillow

Does your little one sleep with a pillow?  At what age did you/will you start.  DD is 21 months and is still in her crib.  I was thinking she might be needing a pillow soon.  I will ask her dr, but just wondering...

Re: Sleeping with a pillow

  • I got DD her own pillow at 15 months and put it in the crib. It's a special crib pillow I bought in France, I am not sure if they make them here, but it spanned the width of her crib and tucked pretty securely into the sides so that it didn't move very much at night. (I hope that description makes sense.) I don't think I've ever seen anything like it here, but I made the decision she was ready after spending a week co-sleeping with her in Europe on vacation and finding her snuggled up on the pillow every morning.

  • I didn't even think about it until someone brought it up here.  I put one in his crib about a week ago and he loves it.  He's 20 months but I would have given it to him earlier if I would have thought about it.

  • No pillow for Bryce quite yet. However, when he lays on our bed with us to cuddle, he loves the pillows. Maybe we will get him one within a few months.

I know, I feel like I am behind the ball on this one! hahaha

  • Technically the AAP rec is not until 2. We are giving the boys their first pillows for Christmas (12 days before they turn 2 ;)). Obviously the risk of SIDS is much lower after 1 year so you just have to decide if you're comfortable with it during that second year.

  • I am so nervous to even go that route. DD has been cuddling into blankets and pillows when we have them in the living room. We don't put her in our bed to chill because she's so nosey she won't just relax. She's 14 months and I can't see getting her a pillow or blanket until she moves to her big girl bed. Let us know how it goes if you decide to use one.

Thanks!  Now for sure I will be googling "French Crib Pillow" hahahah!  I think I will try to find one that does this if I can find it here.   that sounds very secure and what I would be looking for.

  • We bought a crib pillow from Ikea, along with a cover and blanket there.

DS loves it and sleeps so much better!

He has been using since about 15 months.

  • DD is getting one for Xmas.  Its actually her brothers old one but I am making a new pillowcase for it.  It is a tiny/airplane sized one.  Right now she uses her blanket for a pillow.
