My cat is a rescue kitty and I'm a huge supported of no-kill shelters anyway, but the accidental euthanizing of Target has really affected me.
That poor, poor dog. Her poor family!

Re: This whole Target thing is making me sadder than I would have expected
At first I thought you were posting about something re: Target stores. I didn't see this and am now so upset! How horrible!
I microchipped Casey for this very reason. I adopted him from a no-kill shelter?and they rescued him from a county pound, which does put down dogs. I keep thinking that my baby dog wouldn't be here if there weren't great shelters and rescue groups.
I think pounds are short staffed but kill too easily.
How awful.

I got teary just reading this post and the responses, I can't bear to click the link! We got our oldest kitty from a no-kill shelter, and we've been meaning to get all of them chipped even though they stay inside.
How unbearably sad!
This!
So sad. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I have heard of this happening. Why such a hurry? Why such bad operations at this place?
From what I read, the owner had paid the fee to get Target out of the kennel on Friday. He was under the impression the place was closed for the weekend, so he waited until Monday...so heartbreaking. This dog was a hero.
