Hope you can help??

So, I thought if there was any group that could help it would be you.  Had my first u/s yesterday at 6w0d and saw two sacs.  However, one was sac was larger than the other and had a yolk sac and the other was smaller with no yolk sac.

Can anyone tell me if they encounter this early on?  I have another ultrasound next Friday but of course now I am overwhelmed with this.  Is it possible that this will turn into two viable babies like we are hoping.

Re: Hope you can help??

  • Something similar happened to us.  At our first u/s which was approx 6 weeks, we had 2 sacs.  1 "normal" size and 1 that was just slightly smaller then the yolk sac that was in it (both had yolk sacs for us). We were told u/s that early had to be taken with a grain of salt and that we had to let everything "develop" over the next 2 weeks.  When we went in for the 8 week u/s both sacs and yolk sacs were the same size.

Hope all goes well for you and wishing you a healthy 9 months

  • I also had something similar happen.  I had an ultrasound at 5w1d.  We saw one gestational sac with a yolk sac measuring 4w6d.  There was a second empty gestation sac, which they later told me was measuring about 4w4d.  I had a follow-up ultrasound at 7w1d, and we had two heartbeats and they were both measuring 7w1d.  I hope that helps, and I hope everything works out!
  • Thank you both...this takes a little of the edge off.  I guess I just need to try and relax and wait it out.  This is going to be the longest week ever!!!!!
