Does anyone know what this is?
My Doctor's office just called and told me that one of these was found on my 6 week ultrasound but didn't really give me any other information.
She did say that I'm supposed to have pelvic rest but that's about as far as the information went, even after I asked her to give me more details.
Has anyone had one of these?
Re: Subchorionic hemorrhage
It's a hematoma (collection of blood) located between the placenta and the uterus (chorionic membrane). I had one with my first pregnancy- it resolved on its own. By that I mean the blood was re-absorbed by my body.
Some women who have them resolve notice bleeding, which is the collected blood draining out of the body (vaginally).
It can be harmless, but it does pose a risk depending on location. Risk includes placenta abruption (placenta pulling away in portion or total from implantation site). I didn't have that.

PROJECT BALANCING ACT: BIO and BLOG- yeah... needs to be updated.
All of this! I had it in my first pregnancy and out of all the issues I had, that one resolved itself. Sometimes it's caused by the placenta tearing as it attaches/grows then heals shut again. The Dr. showed me where it was on the placenta after delivery and that's all there is to it.
Nine times out of 10 it's not a big issue.
I found out after freaking out about a little spotting. They gave me an u/s and told me about it. The midwife said this one is small, but they can grow and they can go away completely. They don't keep doing u/s to check.
The research I read makes it seem like it's not a big issue. Unless it's really big. And even then there's nothing they can do.
The midwife also said to live life normally. No worry about bedrest, etc. I am a little skeptical of that, but, due to a hard core cold and feeling mostly rotten in general, I've definitely put myself on light duty. If the heartbeat sounds good when we go in next week, I'll probably cautiously up my exercise again. I'm getting squishier than I want for this early!
I had one at 6 weeks. I was bleeding red (very little). I went to the doctor and the instruction was no lifting and 2 days of bedrest for every red bleed. I took it very easy and pretty much did nothing but worked. I drank lots of water too.
After about a week of brown spotting, I had red blood again. Then, more spotting. By my 10 week ultrasound it was totally gone. My doctor's big instruction was to take it easy.
As PP said, most just resolve on their own:)
