White spot on gums??

I was looking at DS's gums last night and noticed a small white dot on his lower front gums. I had been thinking that there's a chance he has started teething but also know the symptoms could be totally normal for his age and not teething. He drools so much (going through 2 bibs a day minimum), his sleep has recently been crazy at night (doesn't go more than a couple hours), chews on his hands constantly. I also read that a stuffy nose can be caused by teething. He has had one for weeks. All clear though. I couldn't get the best look at the dot because he was getting pretty irritated at me prying my fingers into his mouth so I didn't push his patience. Just wondering what kind of white spots do babies get on their gums while teething? Are they small generally? His looked to be about the size of a med ball point pen.

  • Its a tooth. My LO has one too and I remember thats how it started with ODS.

  • This is how DS first tooth started about 2 weeks ago; it's almost through the gum now, taking it's sweet time.

  • My LO has had 2 inclusion cysts.  They are totally harmless, but are not teeth.  Here is some info on it:

We actually thought she was born with a tooth!  Haha, not so much.

  • Sounds like a tooth to me. My son has been teething for awhile with the drool, chewing on his hands, etc. On Tuesday, he started presenting cold symptoms, sleeping like crap, pretty fussy, even pooping more frequently. I assumed it was just a bug but decided to check his mouth this morning - sure enough he has a tooth that broke through the gums and another just beneath! Crazy. It happened quickly for us and his symptoms are easing up. I hope the same for you :)
  • Sounds like a tooth. My DS cut his first last week and that is exactly what he had.
