How much for furniture?

I think I have picked out the furniture for LO but part of me thinks its a lot. The other part of me feels like it may be worth it as he will be using this furniture for a very long time. I love the feel of this set....it feels a lot stirdier than any other crib i've looked. I prety much love everything about it except the price. BRU is having their furniture sale so this would be a  good time to get it and we were also given a $125 gift card that we could apply to it. Am I over thinking this? Should I just go get it?  TIA :)

  • We bought the Baby Cache Heritage Lifetime Crib and changer from babies r us and love both pieces.

  • If you like it, get it! We bought a set that I figure LO will us until they're much older (preteen or teen). It cost 1600 for the set but I figure it will be worth if it lasts and/or we use it for another child in the future.

  • Stacy, what you paid makes me feel much better lol

  • If this is something you plan on using for a long time, then get it.  1.)  It's going to be around for awhile, so you better like it, and 2.)  If you feel it's the sturdiest set you've found, it will work out to your advantage in the end after it withstands all the abuse your little one inflicts on it.  Big Smile

  • It never occured to me that little people could abuse furniture:/ Im going to see it with my mom tomorrow...I still value her opinion :)

I know! Crazy. It wouldn't have been that expensive except that stupid JCP wouldn't deliver to the store and charged me $305 for shipping. Boo.

  • yea, baby bargains rates it high so thats the only reason we went with it. :) so hard to choose when you can't touch it!

  • We just bought ours from BRU, it was also Baby italia...but the palisades line.  We were ok with the price because it will be DS's furniture for a long time.  We got a crib, 2 dressers and the conversion rails for around $1200
  • This is the set we bought! I am really excited about it...and happy to not be obsessing over which set to buy.  My DH did loads of research and he is what I would say more than handy--used to own his own renovations company, and he said this set is really well made and for the price it was a steal.  We got ours this past weekend and had the 20% off.  We were just about to order furniture from Young America by Stanley....but once he saw this, he wanted to switch...said this was much better quality.  I can't wait for him to set it up...it is currently in our garage.
  • We're not going to be spending that much. We'll probably end up spending around $1000 for a crib, mattress, bookshelf, glider, and night table. I already have a dresser that I got off Craigslist. Kids do abuse things.  I remember putting stickers all over my bed when I was a kid! But if you love it and you can affod it, go for it!

  • This is almost the same crib that we bought, but ours was Million Dollar Baby from a furniture store. I think that our crib cost basically the same but our changing table was a little less. We spent about $1200+ for these two pieces and glider.

  • You have great taste! I bought the exact same 2 pieces. We just put the crib together last week and it is really sturdy. I LOVE it. The dresser is still in the box in the garage but will be moved into the room on Saturday. I really think for the price it is a really good set that will last a long time. I say go for it! Smile
  • Personally, I don't think that is expensive at all, especially if it is good quality.  We spent about the same on a crib and dresser for DS and it still looks good 2 years later.

  • Ok im pretty much sold on it! Thanks ladies for all your responses. I wonder if its worth it too to apply for their credit card and get an extra 10% off...a saving is a saving right? Regardless, all of you habe really eased my mind and I dont think I could be this happy with any other furniture set. :)

  •

This is my third and last child and I LOVE buying and selling on Craigslist. Of course I'll spring for a really nice mattress and stuff brand new. But, if it's in your price range go for it! Very nice!

  • I think that's a great price!!  Our crib was around the same but the dresser was about $700.  We chose one from a baby supplier, as their sets had matching pieces, and I really wanted a nightstand that matched his bed.  I want it for now, when I'm nursing to put beside the glider, but once LO is a kid, he'll need one as well.  Once you added the crib rails, toddler conversion kit, a changing pad, a mattress and taxes it was $2300!!!  On the plus side, I have an amazing set of In-Laws who are purchasing it for us!!  We just have to pay for the glider for the room, which will be about $450+tax and we'll be set! :)

BRU is having their "big nursery sale" right now.  All furniture purchases over $299 are 20% off until the 24th!

  • I think those prices are reasonable for a good, sturdy set.  Furniture is something that you're going to have to look at for a long time so I tend not to skimp in that area!  Even better that you have the gift card!

This is the set we liked at BRU....we decided to get it online because the free shipping made it less expensive for us.  We also had a 10% off promo code which saved us over $100!  I am glad we looked at the set in person before we ordered or I would be really nervous.

We don't have it at home yet, since we just ordered it....but we've been to the store about 50 times to look at it and I think we'll be happy with it.  The only thing that I was concerned about it that it's a bit of a lower crib, so I wasn't sure if it would look weird in the room.  I think I'm just used to DS's old crib because it was pretty high.  It seems very sturdy, has gotten good reviews online.  The lady at BRU also told us it's their most popular.
