We might just be crazy (& foster moms come in)

We are getting a  3 week old baby girl today for 2 months! The mom is on the fence about adoption and decided to place for the interim.  I don't know how NOT to fall in love with a baby!  I have a hard enough time falling in love with stinky 3 year olds! :)

 

Anyone who has fostered babies PLEASE tell me how you have avoided heartbreak, or is it inevitable?

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever!     If you can avoid heartbreak, you better fill the rest of us in. :) At midnight and 3 am, might be your chance to avoid heartbreak.

     

    Yes, you are crazy, but so are the rest of us as well.

    Good Luck with this new placement.  It will be hard not to love that baby.  i fell in love with Lil J VERY soon after he came to us, and he was 3 at the time

    Keep us updated.  When are you getting the baby?  Do you need anything?

    Yes please fill us in if you find out the secret.  We quickly bonded with our 5 day old and having to give her up after a month was hard.  Yes midnight and 3 am feedings were rough but that was probably when we bonded the most.  Good luck!

    its gonna be hard no matter how old.. but I feel like I always had a little bit of a wall up just incase.. then when they left you were broken but not as bad cause you always kind of knew it would happen... but who knows maybe she will decide adoption, and fall in love with you guys! either way, it will be fun and challenging! goooood luck!! you will have a blast. and keep us posted on details

    Thats just it...we're supposed to fall in love with them.

    Soak her up and enjoy every minute!!

    #1 rule of foster parenting = worry about the heartbreak later.
