Still can't find the freaking HB

My friend gave me her doppler (which I lovingly call the "baby finder").  After a long day at work, I wanted to come home to try to find the baby's HB.  I found MY HB many times...but not baby.  It is so frustrating.  I'm trying now to worry but it is just getting so annoying.  I don't know what I am doing wrong.  Why is my baby hiding from me ;)

    My bet is that the baby is hiding somewhere that is making it difficult for you to find.

    I don't have my own doppler, but the OB had difficulty finding the HB at my 11 wk appointment and the u/s tech at my high risk OB actually had to do a trans-vaginal u/s on me when I was in my 13th week.  The baby had just been laying really low. You may want to try down really close to your pelvic bone to see if that works.

    At my regular OB appointment this week, the baby was a lot easier to find. I imagine its because the baby is now bigger.

    When my doctor tried to find the heartbeat when I was 14 weeks she warned me first that it's pretty common at that point to not hear it with that and that if they don't they'd just do an ultrasound.

    That's the exact reason my midwife told me the home doppler isn't really worth getting. It'll cause more worry than good.

    My Docotor could not even find the HB until I was 13 weeks.

    I finally heard it for the first time yesterday, but it was very, very low and very faint. Couple of things... I have extra weight, which could be blocking it, and a tilted uterus. Not sure if you have any of these, but my midwife said this could be one reason as well.

    Make sure you use a lot of gel and dig in. I find ours better when I angle the wand.

    At my 14 week appointment last week, my Dr took awhile to find the heartbeat.  Baby was way down low and even when she found it, it wasn't that loud.  She wasn't concerned because it's still early.

    The dr. found it pretty easily at our 11 week appt.  She didn't mention anything about a tilted uterus or anything.  Oh well...I'll just have to wait another 2 weeks for our appt.
