I just had my little over 39 week check up. There is absolutely ZERO progress. She's still sitting high. My cervix is not dilated. The doc said didn't give me any confidence that I'd go into labor anytime soon. He doesn't like for you to go beyond 41 weeks so at my apt on Tuesday we will talk about induction.
If one more person makes a joke about how big I am or when I'm going to pop I swear I'm going to throat punch them. Even more so after the apt today.
Re: I'm in one %$(^U#2 hell of a bad mood
It's also perfectly normal.
You could hang out at 3cm dilated for weeks on end and still not go into labor by 41wk. You can have zero progress today and go into labor tonight. It really means almost nothing.
DS was born at 41wk 2 days. I was really amused by people's reactions when they asked when I was due and I said "a week ago". Made people nervous like I was going to get their shoes wet or something!
ETA: I had zero progress at 40 weeks, and I was not induced (vbac, so I couldn't be), but I had a c/s scheduled for 41wk 3 days.
I am sorry you are dealing with that. I was totally there. No progress at 39 weeks.
I did end up getting dilated and it all turned out ok. But I almost pulled that Karate kid crane move on some jacka$$ who said I looked 15 months pregnant, and another who asked if i was having 4 babies.
I was going to finish this with (hugs) but I know you're not a hugger. So here's my virtual tummy rub (minimum 3 inch distance from belly) to send some vibes to baby girl to descend and get the hell out of your belly!

If it makes you feel better, BFF had zero progress through her 39 week appt too (and I mean ZERO) so they scheduled an induction for 41 weeks and then all of a sudden it happened...she went into labor and delivered the day before her due date. Sooooooo, chin up lady!
Oh, been there for sure. No progress at all, baby still super high and showing no signs at 39 weeks.
I ended up with a scheduled c-section at 40 weeks, but that was because she was also measuring 9+ pounds at the growth scan at 39 weeks, so they weren't going to let me go any longer. If she hadn't been so big, my OB was perfectly fine with me going to 41 weeks. I'd have been walking nonstop. I chose the c-section because my OB wasn't very confident an induction would work for me with my lack of progress (I was still high and closed up 10 minutes before we went into surgery.)
Still it can happen quickly. You'll probably go into labor Thanksgiving morning
Thanks gals
I'm also getting stressed that she's going to be big. I was a bigger kiddo and neither DH and I are what you'd call small. They guessed her to be around 7.5 3-4 weeks ago. Yesterday when they measured mu uterus the Doc and Nurses eyes got big when it was 40 inches.
FWIW, measuring your uterus isn't always the best gauge. I measured two weeks ahead the whole last trimester. When you have a baby that's way out in front (I was ALL belly) and plenty of amniotic fluid it'll look bigger.
My ultrasound was what made the call for me. Nobody expected me to have an almost 10-pound kid. I was under 6 pounds (and 3 weeks early) and DH was a pretty normal 8 and a half.
Sometimes I wish they never even came up with the idea of "checking you" because most of the time it just sends you into a whirlwind of emotions. It'll all be okay and really means nothings! Like pp, my friend had zero progress and went into labor two days after her due date. Also, I went to my 39 week appt with barely any progress and DS was born a few days later. Walk walk walk...I swear it helps!
I agree - if they didn't do an ultrasound, MAKE THEM. My doc did the measurement of the uterus and his "old fashioned" method of measuring her body through my belly. Because she wasn't a fat baby he thought she'd be 9 pounds and that is what we expected. He almost crapped himself when he pulled her out and she was 10 lb 5.4 oz. - but 22-1/2 inches long. He would have done a C for sure had he known.
I measured 44" when induced.
Another reason you might not be showing signs is she might not be in the right position to descend and trigger everything that should get your service to ripen. That was also apparently my problem. Maddie was sunny side up and so big she couldn't get her head into position. Even when induced she wouldn't descend until the midwife nurse stuck her hand up in my jay jay and instructed me on directional pushing so I actually turned her using my abdominal and uterine muscles. Once that happened we were fully ready to go.
I don't want to scare you by sharing that and you are a very direct person so I'm hoping you take it as helpful info you can use to tell your doctor to do the freakin' ultrasound check NOW.
He would have induced or done a C a week earlier before she had a chance to gain a whole additional pound if he had done an ultrasound, I'm sure.

You're not alone. I had zero progress when we went in for our induction at 41 weeks + days. ZERO.
A swift drop kick to someone who has snide comments at all at this point seems perfectly acceptable to me.
I had T at 38 weeks. I had zero progress up until 30 minutes before my water broke and was scheduled to be induced at 39 weeks due to GD. I was having major contractions 4 minutes apart when I got to the hospital and was not dilated AT ALL. About 20 minutes later I was dilated to 1cm and then 30 minutes later my water broke. I thought I was in for a LONG night! Once I started dilating, it went very fast. I had T just 5 hours after arriving at the hospital and and nearly 2 hours of that was pushing. Don't get bogged down in the whole "progress" thing...it doesn't mean anything!!
Also, T measured ahead my entire pregnancy. I had growth u/s every 3-4 weeks b/c I was on heart medication. My stomach was also measuring ahead. I was prepared for a 9lb baby. He was only 7lbs 2oz, but 20.5 inches long. He might have made it 8lbs if he would have stayed put until 40 weeks, but no way was he going to be over 9lbs.
