My DD won't eat...not much...

Kate is my smallest.  She was IUGR and has always been low on the growth charts.  Long story short.... I have not made any changes recently....but all of a sudden she acts like she hates to eat.  She thrusts her tongue out, and gets fussy/cries if I try to put the nipple anywhere near her cheek/mouth.

She was eating 3 to 3.5 oz. every 3 hrs.  Now.... I'm lucky if she eats 2oz.  Some feeds, she is only taking an ounce.She's not sick, she is sleeping and acting the same.  She smiles huge and is happy as soon as you take the bottle out.  She acts like it's so unpleasant to eat.  She is pooping fine...so she's not constipated.  I'm just not sure where this refusal to eat is coming from?

    Does she have any symptoms of reflux? Does she ever choke or struggle during bottles?

    Any chance something is wrong with the taste of the milk or formula you are using?

    My DS did the same thing. He had silent reflux. He would act like he was starving, but would scream when we tried to feed him. Is she having enough wet and dirty diapers?

    I second the reflux possibility. LO screamed at feedings until we figured our she had reflux. My other idea would be an ear infection. She did the exact same thing. No fever, no fussy, and sleeping fine. Just refused to eat.

    I'm totally in agreement with the reflux.

    I hope you get relief for her very soon.

    Talked to pedi today.... in person.  I was there for my DD Lauren... (synagis shot).  My sweet little Kate was denied the Synagis.... :(

    They have reflux and are on Zantac.... pedi prescribed Prevacid today.....

    ****I also (on my own) switched Kate back to a preemie nipple.  It was a huge step backwards....(we've been off the preemie nipple for over a month)....but she ate 3 oz!!!  so....I will be happy with going back to a Preemie nipple.
