XP Recommend your humidifier/vaporizer

I'm posting here too since I got zilch from Babies 9-12. And I'm not sure where else to post. Hope someone here uses a humidifier or vaporizer for their LO when they have a cold. Thanks!

Pediatrician recommends cool mist humidifier. Although this is recommended, I'm open to considering a vaporizer. Why? The cool mist humidifier we bought didn't seem to do anything. Or perhaps, we bought a lousy one?

Please recommend your humidifier OR vaporizer. I've heard of ultrasonic ones. Not sure if they are much better. What do you have? Brand? Type?

We have a Crane humidifier for his room, and a Sears unit for the rest of the house (small house). We've had no problems with the either one. I can definitely tell the difference in DS. He sleeps much better, especially when he has a cold.

I own 4 humidifiers and the Crane is the only one I like, I plan to buy a 2nd one for my own room since it works so well

This may be a stupid question, how does one know that the cool mist humidifier is working. I'm asking 'cause the one we bought, I don't see any mist or any indication that it's working. It definitely did not do anything to relieve my LO's cold/congestion though.
