I have awful heartburn currently, any ways to relieve it? I'm at work for another hour or two, so my resources are slim. I've had a little here and there, but nothing this bad. TIA!
I have heard to drink lots of water, but that always just makes mine worse. However, water mixed with a little honey and apple cider vinegar works really really well - don't know if you have a little kichenette or anything at work, but you might have one of those!
Also peppermint is a natural heartburn remedy, if anyone there has some mint hard candy, it might help.
I go through a bottle of Maalox (berry flavored) a week. No lie! Its the ONLY thing i've found that works for me! I have some serious heartburn too. I usually take a big swig of it and it knocks it out in just minutes and lasts for awhile!!

I was using this too but my Dr didn't want me to use it anymore-not sure why. I got a Rx for generic Prilosec ($1.28 for 30 days!) and it works like a charm!!!

hrrrm?!? wonder why? I'll have to ask my Dr about it. It was on my list of "Safe Meds" she gave me at one of my very first appointments, so when the tums and rolaids failed I went to that! I'll definately ask about it tho. I mean I know different Dr's will advise different things, but maybe there is something new about it!!! Thanks!
Gaviscon - this works really well with the acid coming up in your throat
Tums - do not work for me, but they work for a lot of people
Ice cold water actually worsens heartburn, if you are to drink water drink it at warm temperature. My doctor always tells me to drink a sprite or ginger-ale because the carbonation will make you burp and will get out all the pains, works sometimes. Milk usually helps, it coats your stomach but this is more of something that works before you know you're going to eat something that will give you heartburn, rather than when you are actually having it.

Thanks ladies. All I could come up with at work was a piece of gum, it seems to be working? Maybe it's all in my head though. I will definitely stop by Walgreens tonight to stock up on some of your suggestions so I don't have this problem tomorrow at work.

These are some of the items I use:
Mylanta Max Strength - works very well
Gaviscon - this works really well with the acid coming up in your throat

My OB told me to take Zantac. Now I take one every morning and it works like a charm.
God help me if I forget to take it so now also keep a few in my pruse in case I forgot at home.
