Sorry to post and run, but I gotta go pick up the kiddo. I'll check back in this evening after dinner.
BUT, I must make you aware of something. I work as a flight attendant for a pretty big carrier.
Myself, my crew, and the pilots go thru security, JUST LIKE YOU. We, just like you, are ON the airplane.
Guess who DOESN'T go thru security? The people who could be most likely to "plant" something on the airplane that YOU and I will be on. The rampers (luggage) people, and the provisioners/caterers. That group of employees BYPASS security. FOR REAL. They get access to the "secure" areas of the airport through the "authorized access" only doors with a swipe of their badge.
Feel any safer going through the scanning machine and enhanced patdown? HA! It's all for the public show.
Until EVERYONE has the same safety and security proedures, it's all a crock.
Don't believe me? Call your local airport, or ask a friend who works with the airlines.
Re: Airport "security" is a farce
Couldn't agree more.
I will also never understand why PILOTS have to go through this scanner/pat-down shiit. Pilots go through background checks, ffs....but even if a stealth terrorist got through that, they DON'T NEED a weapon or explosives to bring down the plane, as we have seen.
Insanity rules.
Guess who else has access to your plane? About 100 different low paid airplane mechanics.
My Dad has worked in aircraft maintenance for 30 years.
Hundreds of people touch that airplane you're flying on - mechanics, supervisors, FAA inspectors...
Agreed.
