I'm trying to pick out an area ug for Leah's new room. I'm 99% sure i'm going to paint it a cute light blue/aqua color so I'd like the rug to have both blue and pink in it. I think these curtains are the front runners - probably with some pink somewhere - tie backs or whatever.
My dream rug is this: https://www.garnethill.com/concentric-cutting-garden-chenille-rug/133441 (Bluebell) but it is $$ and DH wouldn't be pleased with me.
Other options are: JC Penny or WalMart JC Penny one is right in my price range but the colors are so-so for me - there's too much yellow in them for my taste (not a yellow fan) and the Walmart one is cute but I'd have to get a 4x6 which is a little smaller for the money.
I also really like this pottey barn rug - it's actually the one I saw first but it is discontinued and I only found one on ebay for $$$ and it's larger than I need too.
So if anyone is interested in sharing opinions - I'd love to hear!
Re: Anyone care to area rug browse?
I hate braided rugs, we had one in our guest room before Eve was born and I despised it.. I was so glad to throw it in the attic when we did Eve's room.
I like the Walmart one the best out of them, prices aside. The PB one is pretty colors too, but since you can really get it.. I guess its not an option.
m/c 1/2/08 and 3/12/08
Eve Amelia- Born 2/24/09. 6lb 9.9oz
Natalie Ruth - Born 6/13/11 7lb 6.6oz
Both.. Mostly looks though.. the colors in the one we had were ugly (i think there are pics in my bio somewhere)..and I don't like the style in general It it also wasn't the easiest to vacuum and it started falling apart and the vacuum would pull it apart..

I would never pay more than the WalMart price for anything that is on the floor of a childs room! Crayon, marker, poop, vomit.....I can only imagine! haha
I like the color but braided rugs remind me of my grandparents house, kind of old and fuddy duddy.
That's what I'm going for - fuddy duddy
Well - I am liking the looks of a more vintage type of little girls room...iron bed frame, painted white antique dresser, etc. The thing that is great with these area rugs - esp with a variety of colors like this is that little things like that blend right in. Also - braided rugs can be used on both sides - unlike the typical kind that has the rough binding backing. So it's sort of like two rugs in one.
Out of the 3, I'd choose the Walmart one, mostly because of the price, especially since it's going in a kid's room. Not a braided rug and not round, but what about one like this? I got a similar one for J's room (all shades of pink though) and like it.
edit: I like the rugs that you chose, I am just cheap
I was going to say braided rugs were NMS... but I love it w/ the vintage theme. My favorite is of course the most expensive! I like the colors the best. But the Walmart one is nice too. I agree that the Penny's one has too much yellow.
My thoughts exactly..and unfortunately. I am going to try and find a coupon code to get ANY money off that rug. I wish I could see the Penny's rugs in person - maybe the yellow is just enhanced in the pictures - but then again, maybe there is even MORE yellow in person. I also am dealing with my WalMart block. If DH only knew how many hours I have spent researching a single rug, hahaha!!
Yep. Just ordered it, haha! I also justified it by saying when an oval rug is 4x6 the corners are cut off...but when a rectangular rug is 4x6 it's REALLY 4x6 - so you get more for the money!
I also called them and asked if they had any promotional codes (I couldn't find a current one online anywhere) and they gave me $20 off
AND it's only $10 shipping. So I feel confident with my decision.
Now THAT is a good way to justify...hehe!
