My early Confession, and in need of help

Ok, like many moms, I am not the size I used to be. I have avoided buying jeans since I had J because I keep saying I'm going to lose weight. My confession is that I still wear maternity jeans sometimes. And sadly I would probably continue to do so if they weren't on their last leg.

I need help. I need new jeans, asap. But I am not about to spend $100 on them and we don't get much in the way of nice stores in this town. Anyone have any jeans they like from Target or Kohls (I kinda hate kohls) or American Eagle or Pacific sunwear. The problem with the last two is they tend to only have the smaller sizes. Help!

Re: My early Confession, and in need of help

  • Do you have a store called Vanity in your mall? That is where I buy all my jeans. I LOVE them. It's more of a store like PacSun or American Eagle. They are less expensive and still look great. I love that I can get longer inseams (up to 37 inches).

  • I bought jeans from Target years ago and they held up great.  I saw they have a really big selection and I think a lot of them were on sale, I would try it out and see how you like them because you can't beat the price.  I would NEVER spend $100 on jeans..or $50 for that matter but thats just me.  I LOVE my maternity pants I got this pregnancy and I swear I will wind up wearing them after this baby is born lol.

  • I got a pair of skinny jeans from Target this year that I think are just as nice at the $130 pairs I have from Banana Republic. I probably won't be spending that kind of money on jeans anymore if I can get them at Target! Thank God Target started carrying talls!

  • I do most of my shopping at Target. Embarrassed I really like the Mossimo brand(their main brand i guess) as well as the Converse One Star pants they have, the sizes on those run a bit small it seems but they are much more affordable, at less than $35 you can afford to get a couple, and I like that.
  • I have bought jean from both target and kohls, and have not had problems with either place.  they hold just as well and any other jeans i own.  I would also never spend $75 or more on jeans.  thats just insane and i can and do wear jean to work everyday.
  • I really like jeans from Gap, Old Navy and Express. I'm petite, but have wide hips and a generously-sized butt and I find that these all fit very well. Designer jeans seem to be made with women with no butt, no hips and legs way longer than mine.

    speak for yourself, misssy!

  • Never had experience with the stores listed, but try New York and Co. if you have one near you. They are very frequently having 50% off sales (everything in the store), or buy one get one half off, etc. I just got a pair of jeans there for $30, because it was half off.

They are comfortable, stylish and durable. GL!

  • Have you tried "Old Navy?" I love their "flirt" jeans.

I totally rock my muffin top. I don't even care.

But, I disagree with most about Old Navy. I can't get a single pair to fit me, I have to butt so maybe thats why, and they do not fit around the legs either. Its kindof a choice between fit at the waist and baggy everything else, or super tight and fitted. So I prefer Target.

  • I picked up some Levis at Costco for like $20.  I also tried Old Navy but wasn't loving the way those looked on me.  I know a lot of people who love their jeans, though, and they're in the $30 range.

They do have online shopping! Just a thought if the Target jeans don't work out.

Another vote for Old Navy jeans.

  • Have you tried Old Navy? I have several pairs of jeans from there and a lot of times they have them on sale for $20 a pair. I also like GAP jeans but, only buy them when they are on sale or clearance.
  • I've been wearing Old Navy jeans. They have four different rises in addition to varying leg fits, which is nice, and their sizes aren't all tiny. Though, you pretty much have to try them on in-store if you can because the sizes fluctuate terribly from style to style (and sometimes in the same style).

I used to wear AE jeans, and will probably go back to them if (when!) I lose a bit more weight and don't have quite as much muffin top in lower rises. I loved them, and was really bummed when I went to try some on last year and realized that even a couple sizes larger than pre-pregnancy were not flattering.

I normally do not like Old Navy but wanted a pair of inexpensive jeans and tried their skinny jeans. (i think they are called flirt!) I love them! I only paid $19.  yay!

  • I wear Old Navy sweetheart jeans, or Gap curvy from the Generation store.  They are $25.

  • I just picked up a pair of Levis at Kohls the other day.  $40 and they're stretchy, soft and comfy.  I love them!  Most importantly they are 'Long' so I can throw them in the dryer and not worry about them shrinking in length.
  • Don't worry so much about the size of your jeans, as long as they look nice.  If you have a maurices, I really like the Maurices brand.  I want to say they're around $25-$30.

  • Old Navy has some nice ones that sit higher on your hips. That had bigger sizes in store thats how i came to accept im a plus size now, trying that bigger size on and realizing its more comfortable im a big fan of their "flirt" style higher on the hips and still skinny legged. But they have a variety of sizes styles and shapes for pretty cheap.

All of their jeans are going to be $15 on Black Friday!

  • I was the same way. I wore my mat pants once in awhile when I wanted some nice jeans (sad my maternity jeans were nicer than my post pregnancy jeans) I finally broke down and got some new ones at Old Navy. I got the sweetheart ones (they are low rise but not super low rise so they have some tummy control) and the diva (which are tight and could only be worn on days when I wasn't bloated) but they were 29.50 a pair so I thought that was reasonable!! Now I am back in my comfy and stylish maternity pants and am going to have to venture out to the jean abyss later this summer.

     They are the BEST!

  • I love the Gap 'curvy' fit.  They have different lengths, washes, and actually fit me well.  I have a short torso, so they aren't too low cut, but aren't 'mom jeans' either.
  • old navy !!

I also found jeans in JCPENNY made by A.N.A

I loveee them! and most of the time you can find them on the clearnace rack for like 10-15$

There is also coupons online were you get 10$ off purchase..

They are soft, comfy and have sooo many different cuts. I hate hate hate low rise jeans.. I dont like my butt crack hanging out..

  • What about Gap jeans?  I have some I love.  And they always have sales!!

Otherwise I know you don't like kohl's but they have some nice ones.

  • I have had really good luck with Eddie Bauer Jeans and Levi's  -we have an outlet mall with both stores... you could try your local mall for the stores. GL to you!
  • I buy American Eagle and LOVE them. I am not sure what size you wear, but they do have a wider variety of sizes on their site than they dont have in the stores. They also carry many styles in Tall that they dont in the stores. They also do buy one get one half off sales alot with their jeans.
  • Target! They have totally stepped up their jeans selection, it's really well organized and there are lots of fits, lengths and sizes.  Also, if you have a costco near you sometimes they carry cute womens Levis with stretch for like 20$.
  • Thanks girls! Very helpful. When DH gets home from work I'm gonna check out the mall and target and khols. (Those are pretty much the only stores we have here)

  • I kind of hate kohls (for clothes) too but a few weeks ago i spent 60$ on a pair of jeans from the Gap and then decided to try a pair of Levi's on at Kohls..they fit WAY better than the Gap ones AND I got a smaller size!

I returned the pair at the GAP and bought 2 pairs for the same price at KOHLs!
