What can I do to stop this?

DD is a pretty good eater, but half of it ends up on the floor. I don't understand why she does it, but every other piece she will toss on the floor. She just picks it up and drops it to her side, then picks up the next piece and eats it just fine. Saying "no" doesn't affect her in the least. I have tried to just ignore it because I think part of it is to get a reaction, but I have to pick it up every time she does it because I can't have our dog eating all of that food! (Putting the dog somewhere else isn't an option either). So, how do I get DD to stop throwing half of her meal on the floor?

  • ds will do this w/his food and toys when in the high chair.....not every other bite but he'll still do it. i just put my hand under where he's going to drop it from and then let it fall into my hand and then put it back on the highchair. i guess it depends on what type of food your LO is dropping if you want it falling into your hand or not.....lol.

  • I would like to know also.  The floor is a MESS after DS eats.  It makes me really miss my dog.

  • I put my hand under where he drops food too to catch it an put back on the tray.  After a couple of times, he usually tires of the game.  However, this morning he learned that it was fun to through Cheerios to the dog.  When he starts throwing food, I take it all away and then give it back slowly until he stops entirely.
