Best Baby Bottles?

Can anyone recommend a good baby bottle? There are a lot , so I am nto so sure which is the best.  I know that all babies are different, and that you really will not know until you try it, butmaybe youhave a suggestion as to where to start:)

Re: Best Baby Bottles?

  • We really liked the Dr. Brown's bottles for DD.

  • We started with the Medela brand that came with my pump.  After LO was on all formula, we started with the Playtex Ventaire and then switched to Dr. Brown's.  Many of my friends use Avent.

  • I think it really depends on the baby. We tried every kind with DS, due to spit up issues. Started with Dr. Browns, then ended with Playtex Ventaire. Since we liked the Ventaire best for DS, that's what we will start out with for DD,

  • I don't know what we would have done without drop-ins! They make life so so much easier!

  • I've heard excellent things about:

    Breastflow Bottles

    Tommee Tippee

The woman that I nannied for used Dr. Browns and I really liked those as well. For some reason, they leaked occasionally, no matter what I did! Still, great bottles.

  • loved my playtex drop ins, walmart sells generic drop in liners that were half the cost.

my friend had the leaking problem too, she found them a pain to clean however it worked the best for her colicky DD

They really were a pain to clean. Destroyed pretty much any scrubbie we bought for them. She didn't have the steam basket for the microwave though, so maybe that would have been easier... Not sure! No basket for the dishwasher either. We always hand washed all the eleventybillion parts. Smile

  • DD used the cheapie Gerber bottles with the Madela nipples swapped in for the standard ones.

  • 5 nieces, 1 nephew, and my sone all did great with Avent.
  • Baby Bargains recommends Dr. Brown's or Avent.  We registered for Dr. Brown's - they are apparently hard to clean, but my friends that used them highly recommended them.
  • Loved Dr. Browns but....

    1.  You have to put the little disk thingy in if you plan to travel with them or they will leak milk into the cap of the bottle (and elsewhere) if you have the faster flow nipple on

    2.  They have a zillion parts to clean and I always washed them by hand with the special bottle brush they came with because after being in the dishwasher I would still see formula residue inside the pipe and sometimes the base of the bottle

We also used Ventaire which I liked but....

    1. If you didn't have the bottom part screwed on just right it would leak all over the place (sometimes my coordination wasn't the best in the middle of the night)

    2.  I didn't think they were always effective at venting...DD still had a lot of bubbles in her formula

    3.  Only 2 speeds for the nipple

And for traveling we used Drop Ins.  Which were excellent for when we were on the go but difficult for measuring (at least for me).

This time around we're going to give the Tommee Tipee a try.  I like how they are vented within the nipple so no extra parts.  I would have re used the Dr. Brown's with DS, but the prospect of all that washing tires me out just thinking about it!

  • We used Playtex drop-ins for DD, and will be using them again this time. I loved them! So easy to clean up after and get all the air out! I have never had an issue with them!

  • Parent's Choice bottles from Walmart which are 3 for $3. I did however use Dr. Brown's nipples with them. They worked for DD from day one and I liked that if I lost one, it didn't matter. Also, there are only three parts to clean - the bottle, the nipple and the ring. I liked the simplicity.

  • Playtex drop ins.  They worked great, never had any issues, very easy to clean and inexpensive.

Speaking from experience, I would never buy a bottle that has a million different parts that you have to clean because the last thing you want to do at the end of every day is having to clean a ton of bottles and all of their little parts.

  • we used the playtex drop ins with both kids. the parents choice liners do work just fine and they are cheaper. i liked that they had different flow speeds and many different types of nipples.

however, we will be using something different (probably avent) this time because it is a pain in the butt to realize that you have ran out of liners at 3am and they do add up. we are on kid #3 and i don't have money to throw away this time.

  • We used the playtex drop-ins for DD. I Loved them!  They are so easy to use and I knew she was never getting air.  Also with the next LO I don't have to buy the bottles again, only new nipples and liners.  I don't think I would feel comfortable using the same ones again if they had a lot of parts to clean.

  • I used Dr. Brown's for DD.  She was very tiny with a small mouth so the size of the nipple worked best for her sucking.

the cost of liners does add up, DD had maybe 3 bottles a week so it wasn't too bad for us but I may have switched if I hadn't been able to stay home with her.  She also started using a sippy cup at 6 mos so that cut the amount we had to buy.

  • I am on Baby number 4 and with all three of my babies playtex nursers with liners or drop ins always won.  All of them tended to like different nipple types but the bottles are so much easier to keep clean and sterilizing of the bottle is not an issue with the liner!
