It's not that I'm not crazy happy to be pregnant because I am. However this insane weight gain that has already begun has made me feel terrible about myself. My DH and I just got home from telling his grandma and then we stopped to picked up a Papa Murphey's pizza. I cried the whole way home about how I'm only 8 wks and have already gained weight and can't fit into anything (of course the whole time staring at the pizza thinking that I would eat it raw if it weren't for risk of listeria, or whatever). I have always struggled with my weight. I lost quite a bit for our wedding 3 1/2 mos ago and since then I've gained 10 lbs. I just don't understand this appetite! It's insatiable! I have had little to no nausea but just the opposite. I'm making him tell people now instead of waiting until the end of first trimester so they don't just think "man, she got married and let herself go real quick". Ugh...
Re: Please tell me I'm not alone in this...(vent)
I feel the same way. Fortunately, I haven't gained any weight yet...but I do know what you mean about always being hungry!!! I am sure it's only a matter of time before I see the scale going up. I just try to remind myself that I am not literally "eating for two." It's definitely hard. I also try and walk a few times a week, but it is getting so cold here that I am not sure that will last much longer. Good luck and know you are not alone
I'm fully aware that it sucks. After my first all my weight shifted and I just wasn't used to and down on myself.
However, you have to change your attitude and stop thinking about everything you put in your mouth. You're pregnant. The weight gain is going to happen and all for a good reason. Make good choices most of the time, get some exercise and don't worry about the rest.
Try not to stress!! I gained quite a bit of weight in the 1st tri and very little in the 2nd. During the 2nd tri you start feeling better, less tired and you will be more active.
Also, every woman's body is different and will gain weight differently. I gained 50 lbs throughout my pregnancy and lost 40 in the first 3 months. It was just the way my body dealt with that pregnancy. Enjoy all the different stages because time goes so quickly!
My recommendation is just grin and bear it for now. Once you have a cute belly, you will feel so much better about it all. Eat healthy and try to be active. GL!
No kidding. You're pregnant. You didn't expect to lose weight did you? It will slow down. For most people if they gain a lot right away, they won't gain as much later. It evens out. Chill.
I'm an early gainer too - w/ DS #1 I gained 8ish pounds in the first tri, got up to 28 pounds and lost a few for a total of 24 pounds when I delivered. I was underweight when I got pg w/ #1 and borderline this time; the gain is hard to see, and it seems to be a little bit everywhere - hips, thighs, etc. I'm 11 weeks pg now and have gained about 7 pounds already.
I'm a runner and ran my entire first pg (until put on bedrest), I'm still running 50ish miles/week now. If you are feeling well enough, there's no reason you can't continue to exercise. Exercise really helps me feel better
