2 child sound monitor?

Does one exist? I know there are 2 camera video monitors, but is there a sound monitor that you can use with 2 children?

If not, what does everyone do?  I can't imagine having having a separate receiver for each child.   I was hoping there was a 2 child one that might help!

Re: 2 child sound monitor?

  • I didn't find one!  But honestly, I don't feel like I need one for DD1 (she was 21 months when DS2 was born).    It might be nice to have, but she lets us know if she needs us (aka we hear her loud and clear).   But our bedroom is right across the hall from both kids rooms.  Hasn't been an issue so far, but DD1 is still in a crib.  I don't know what will happen when we move her to a toddler bed..

One of my co-workers said that they kept a sound monitor in the hallway between the two kids rooms (and didn't keep the kids doors closed all the way) - and that way, they could hear some sound from both rooms.

  • I just read a review on a summer video monitor...that you could add up to three cameras on one monitor.  I dont know how good that monitor is, but something like this really might exist?!  And now that Im typing this Im realizing the review said add cameras....Im assuming that device also has sound...who knows.

  • I was thinking about this earlier tonight.  DS will be 23 months old so we'll be transitioning him to a big boy bed before the baby arrives.  He pretty much sleeps through most nights, so I think we'll just leave the monitor in the baby's room.  I'm thinking it will be more important to "catch" the baby when s/he is just starting to make noise than it will be for DS.  Like a pp said, if DS needs something, he'll make sure he is heard! ;)

  • DS will be 23 months, so he could yell if he needs us.  But when he wakes up, he does not make a sound.  He could quietly play for hours.  The only way we know he is up is the monitor b/c we can hear him moving.  For naps, I think we still need a monitor.

That being said, I can't believe no one has made a 2 child sound monitor!  I feel like there is a market for everything else baby related, why not this?
