Frustrated with DH - NBR Vent

I know it's mostly hormones that's making me so upset, but he's been working late since he got this new job.  Sometimes I call him a "busy body" because what it is is that he likes to feel important.  Right now he's involved in the re-opening of a huge hotel/convention center here in Nashville that has been closed for the last 6 months due to a huge flood we had here on May 1.  Anyways..I'm irritated because he refuses to come home at a decent hour!  I leave work everyday at 4pm so that I can pick up my stepdaughter, get her home and keep her on a routine.  He NEVER offers to pick her up.  He NEVER feeds her dinner, or does homework with her, or even puts her to bed!

I feel like he takes advantage of the fact that he knows I'll do it.  I also get irritated because he says he is going to leave work at one time, and 2 hours later, he still hasn't left!  If you aren't going to keep your word...don't give me a time and an expectation!  When I told him that, he said "I'm sorry I like my job and you don't like yours".  Well good grief!  Even if I LOVED my job, and wanted to stay late, I couldn't because HE won't leave early enough to pick up our child from school etc!  So I'm left with no choice because I refuse to not make her a top priority.  I have a good feeling this won't necessarily change when the baby comes.

Ok...vent over. Just needed to get that off my chest.

  • that sucks,, sorry about that. it's not a liking or not liking the job, as I see it,, it's the priority. it's great about the job,, but it's like he needs to learn when to say NO,, and how he can help out... that's where the change needs to make,,, hope you guys can work that out before the baby comes,,

  • Sounds like your dh needs a priority check. I think your right in your assistment. Sometimes men use their jobs as an escape from reality. I'm glad that you are communicating the way you feel and how you see things. He needs to hear it. Hang in there
